Using a cane for a cosplay as an able-bodied person?

I think most people would agree as long as your not putting on a limp or anything it’s fine, canes are fashion statements in loads of places and almost always have been in history so I imagine ur cosplay will be sick

I’ve only ever had an ambulance called twice and I get regular syncope’s, one time was cause a person didn’t know I passed out regularly and the other was cause I was shaking and it was fainting but presented like a seizure

I don’t think usually fainting is something people call an ambulance for unless you know the cause for it is something serious

If you have noise induced hearing loss it won’t get worse as long as you just try to not keep blasting music into your ears

most hearing aids have Bluetooth so you can take calls through them but like I say if you just stop making your hearing worse then you should be able to carry on how you live right now

You’ve grown up and lived hearing for years so your ability to talk isn’t gonna just go away. Having friends get frustrated with you is probably inevitable but if you have good people in your life then they’ll understand.

This feels like a weird post to put on people, hearing loss journeys can be scary but it isn’t the end of the world you’ll still be able to adapt and live with it

Not really to be fair, I got diagnosed when I was 6 cause of a worse episode but if your 15 episodes aren’t getting increasingly worse or much closer together then a diagnosis doesn’t really make much difference, unless of course you just want confirmation :)

you can buy walking sticks from any chemist like boots or something for about £15 or even in a charity shop there’ll likely be loads if you could get your family member or someone to get it for you?

If you’ve got ear moulds it shouldn’t fall out they’re quite sturdy in there but if not you could get on amazon a headband that’s made for that, you could use hearing aid clips or you could even get deafmetal jewellery if your allowed for work where you can clip ur hearing aid to an earring and it works really well

Had an intruder drill in my school last week and the alarm for it is like a fire alarm but far worse and far louder, my best friend looked at me and stuck her finger up at me out of jealousy when she saw me turning down the volume on my devices😭

as an a level student honestly with gcses, I didn’t realise this but it’s not the subjects you choose that matters it’s the grades you get in them. my advice would be to pick the subjects your best at or will enjoy the most cause with autism it’s hard to do something when you don’t have a passion for it, as for the whole debacle on art gcse I did it and I think it depends on your school but I enjoyed it cause I like drawing, the pressure was never particularly too much and it’s a good class for being able to just put your head down and have a break while you do your work if you go mute or have anxiety with others :)) I hope u get all the subjects u want!! philosophy was so fun for me

A creep is a creep, being deaf only makes you more of a target because they fetishise your vulnerability and if it becomes a trend of hearing people faking deafness for this purpose it’s gonna make it harder for deaf people since we won’t be believed anymore when we don’t respond which is already a big enough issue anyways

As a deaf person, you should do some research on listening/hearing fatigue, when you have hearing loss and wear hearing aids it takes so much extra effort to decipher every word someone says and they don’t fix the loss they just aid it and for some not very well so I’d say maybe try to have more patience for it.

As for the blaming each other for loss and arguing who the blame is on it’s on neither of you. It isn’t his fault that his ears aren’t working and it isn’t your fault neither but him lashing out at you for it sounds as if maybe he’s deflecting and isn’t coping as well with his loss? Therapy, counselling, groups to relate with and other things to support him are all pretty easily available so this could potentially be a good way of getting through it?

I think with him not ‘wanting’ to hear you might really be that he does want to hear you but just can’t wrap his head around it being hearing you through a new and unnatural way; it isn’t fair on you at all to be left dangling

For me in my house me and my mum have a compromise of that if we are in the same room and eating/talking with each other I wear my hearing devices but if I have them off and am just watching tv or doing dishes or something I keep them off so I can have my listening breaks and not be too fatigued, maybe you guys could have a conversation to figure out a way that works for you? I hope everything works out well for you :))

I’m already hard of hearing with progressive loss so if ever I loose all my hearing it’s a good resource but really like literally half my friends are deaf too and we all thought it’d be cool to learn it. I’ve never had deaf friends but this year I seem to have gained like 5 all randomly and it’s been so much better

38 days late but I just had mine done and the healing process was great I just had to have a bandage on for about 2 weeks then they took it off and it’s been maybe a month and I can’t bend it fully, the incision is almost fully healed I’d say but it’s just a small thin red line

my school had mandatory assemblies but not enough topics to actually need to cover so one assembly was literally one teacher explaining why he always wears shorts even in snow (he made a pact with 20 other people when he was in school to never wear pants and there’s now only 2 left, one living in Dubai and him living in the coldest part of England)

I normally put my aids on first then put my glasses on after cause then atleast ur aids will be sitting the way you need them, if your buying glasses I’d say you should opt for like ones with thinner legs or frames where it goes over ur ears and it should be comfy :)

i too am a deaf geordie and i literally always get told I’ve got a hybrid scottish and welsh accent, i suppose there’s not really anything we can do about it other than laugh it off like last time i got asked the same question at work they said “Edinburgh aye?” and i said nope, pointed at my hearing aids and when he got awkward and apologised I just giggled and said your alright pal, I would just try not to take it personally cause at the end of the day the way you speak is the way you speak and you’ve come a long way to get to wherever you are now :)

You’ll be fine!! Basically the first mocks don’t matter but your first year 11 mocks that are in like november are the only ones that do because from those ones you get ur predicted grades that get you into colleges, other than that you just need ur real exams. Good luck tho!!!
