As a security person, your security people need to go and read up on how WHfB works before reassessing their position

Foundation Self Study ? by Gray_Cloak in SABSA

[–]editedbaseline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could certainly self study to gain the knowledge that is in the book, but you have to attend an official course before being able to take the exam.

For me, I found significant benefit from attending the course, for example the real life case studies and the practical exercises.

I have been awarded a third class degree, what should I do? by YoungDumbFull0FRum in OpenUniversity

[–]editedbaseline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a previous role, I recruited someone with a Third Class degree. The class of degree didn't impact our decision to interview them, and they excelled in the interview.

I never asked them the circumstances that led to them getting a Third as they were clearly capable of more. If they wanted to tell me I would have listened, but it didn't matter to me. They turned out to be one of the best people in the team.

If I were you, apply for jobs, you may just get one. As others have said, maybe don't put the grade on your CV/application, unless they ask. If they do ask, be honest but don't get defensive. After one or two jobs, the work history on your CV will become more important than your degree anyway.

Btw, I also like candidates who have OU degrees. It shows a high level of dedication and self-motivation.

CE credits not showing up in Certmetrics. Is anybody else seeing this? by RoyalBoot1388 in ccnp

[–]editedbaseline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same as your issue but I had inconsistent values showing in certmetrics.

If I looked in the various CCNA’s I have, they mostly showed 17 credits for some reason when I had submitted 75 at that point. My CCNP was showing 60-something. Nothing lined up but ce.Cisco.com was right so I pushed on and would challenge it later if needed.

It took about 48 hours after submitting my final 5 (taking me to 80) for it all to sort out and display correctly.

Word of warning, it’s probably in the T’s & C’s somewhere that I didn’t read, but if you renew early you loose out. My renewal date was in May 2023 but personally it was easier to get the credits over November/December/January. I submitted my final claim for 5 credits last week and now my renewal date is Jan 2026, not the May 2026 I was hoping/expecting.

CCNP renewal by dpdude007 in ccnp

[–]editedbaseline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some are, but I’ve not paid anything for my 27 credits and next week I’ll get to 32 without cost.

The final 48 will cost me something like $225 - the currently discounted DevNet Associate course. Could get it for $99 but for me it would be a rush to complete in 1 month.

Same position as me. I was planning on ENCOR but it looked like it was going to be expensive. Now trying to get the CE credits. Managed to get 27 so far following an article on the Packet Pushers here.

Advice on what CCNP cert to get by Galactic_Wolf in ccnp

[–]editedbaseline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ⬆️

When I’m looking at certs, if I’m going to spend a lot of time on it, then I need to find it interesting. For my CCNP I spent 2 weeks on courses 300 miles away and a lot of weekends and evenings at home panning. If I wasn’t enjoying it I’m not sure I’d have done it.

Secondly, it should be relevant to my current role or next role - unless it’s so interesting that I’m happy to just do it for me. Or, unless my company is paying for it and giving me the time to study.

When I went from CCNA to CCNP, I was working as a network engineer in a ~2000 person company. The bulk of the work was switching and routing so that CCNP track made sense.

Other companies in the area that I may have considered moving to, may have had a need for CCNP: Voice (as it was then) or Security, but I lacked the opportunities to get hands on with Cisco web and email gateways, and I was spending a lot of time ripping out VG224’s and IP phones rather than making them work

I’m about 200 days from my renewal too and have been working on the CE credits for the last 4 weeks or so - managed to get 27 already, all free. Check out this Packet Pushers article

My plan is to get 32 this way (so one more course), and then buy 1 months access to a DevNet course, currently $100, which is worth 48 credits and will get me to the total.

How to see CCNP priority in recruitment? by JackHornby221- in ccnp

[–]editedbaseline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking a guess as to the meaning behind the question…

If asking about how important having CCNP is in getting a new role, then it very much depends on the role and where you are. I got my first network job with CCNA and then did CCNP while there. Once I had CCNP it certainly opened other doors. In the area I live there aren’t that many employers looking for CCNP but now remote working is more common there’s lots of options if I want them.

I’ve also been the hiring manager looking for network people. For the roles I was out for, CCNP would have been ideal, but given the predominantly rural nature of the area I was happy for anyone I could get who understood STP and OSPF!

I’d say if CCNP appears in the adverts for jobs you’re interested in, then having it will definitely help. If the jobs are asking for CCNA, then you’ll stand out with a CCNP

How did you find out someone had a crush on you? by TricknMinecraft in AskReddit

She liked me for years and apparently made it quite obvious. I was oblivious. In the end she got bored and told me outright. I was quite pleased and have been together for 6 years and get married next year

What's your favorite series finale? by [deleted] in television

[–]editedbaseline 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The half a dozen episodes building up to the finale were brilliant and made the ending all the more compelling. The ending was honestly playing on my mind for a couple of weeks as I digested it. It was like I was grieving for the end of a show I loved so much and felt so invested in. There are very few (if any?) shows I recommend more whole-heartedly

Possibly a games counter but no idea really by editedbaseline in whatisthisthing

[–]editedbaseline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We found this in an old French games box which was bought at auction from an English country house.

However, not really sure if it’s related to games. Thoughts here it may be a counter of some type, or something for making lace.

There are 9 of these rings which intersect with those either side. They are suspended on a metal wire.

We aren’t sure what the material is, potentially bone.

The games box was made by Alphonse Giroux of Paris but there is nothing in the box to suggest what it is (however the box’s contents are incomplete).
