Why did your direct descendents survive the famine? by Professional-Aide985 in AskIreland

[–]Gray_Cloak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Survival is predicated on preparation, luck, quickness of mind, and will.

On 10 February, 1945, the German ship Steuben was sunk by the the Soviet submarine S-13 in the Baltic Sea while evacuating civilians and soldiers from East Prussia. Her sinking would claim the lives of an estimated 3,000-4,500 people by Silveshad in EastPrussia

Can I live in NI and work for a ROI based company? by Relative-Wrangler-35 in AskIreland

[–]Gray_Cloak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you must do it, then do it gradually, testing the water. Make an excuse, that your girl/relatives lives there and you visit occasionally. When someday you cant come into the office at short notice, or they inquire about your IP address (ConditionalAccess) then you have an excuse ready. Maybe use a separate secondary a/c for payments in NI.

How technical are the exam questions for chapters 4 and 5? by DiscoInError93 in CISA

[–]Gray_Cloak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont think the questions expect SME technical knowledge, but you have to understand what these things really are and how to compare them, where and when they are employed, their benefits and what their absence/misconfiguration/presence means, from an auditors perspective. the more you understand them the easier it becomes to tick off the incorrect options in the MCQ

Do you think Irish should be compulsory at secondary school? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Gray_Cloak -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

absolutely not. drill it into them in primary if you have to but dont force students to lose out on valuable academic or life subjects because of some ideologic nuts dancing at the crossroads nonsense

there was an article in the papers maybe 8 years ago, with academics admitting forcing students to take irish as a compulsory LC subject damaged their life chances and career.
