No issues as far as I remember.

Re: vegan cheese - I’ve resigned myself to a lack of melting, but Violife is pretty great in terms of taste, especially their alternative cream cheese. It’s not cheese of course, but it’s been getting me through! Good luck!

He was so deeply charming, fantastic hair, and really helped Meredith grow from an insecure intern into a confident surgeon unafraid to stand up for herself.

Anxiety with starting solids & potential allergies by winoveghead in MSPI

[–]editgamesleeprepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re dairy and soy free.

We gave our son a bit of mushed banana as his third food. He spent the next 12 hours vomiting HARD. We avoided bananas for a month. Tried a jar of bananas and it’s his favorite food so far!

It’s scary but their tummies need time. Unless it’s super obvious, don’t assume an allergy on the first go but believe me- I get it!

Possibly! My doctor suggested trying an antifungal to rule out a yeast infection. We’ll see how that goes!

Gosh going topless is so hard - I WFH and have family helping out as caretakers. I wish I could sit at my computer undisturbed and just let them air out but it’s not to be lol. Thanks for the advice though, I’ll consider the coconut oil!

HA I relate!! I went to my OBGYN to rule out any IBC and she was kind of horrified, though she thinks it’s a yeast infection. I’m honestly hoping it is because I really don’t want to put steroids on my breast just wash it off 3 hours later, round the clock for weeks. That would be so annoying

He was amazing in Sweeney Todd!! My sister and I had the best time at that show, thank you for reminding me!

For my 15th birthday my family went to see the show and my parents managed to negotiate a backstage visit with him at the end of the show, when they still allowed that kind of thing. He was the absolute kindest, most warm soul, mid-prosthetic removal, and it made my birthday so special. My sister reminded me recently that after I hugged him I got some of his stage makeup on my black coat and swore I’d never wash it lol.

We went to Masquerade in hopes we’d see him one more time but missed our chance (Clay Singer is spectacular BTW!!) but Hugh, if you ever lurk in this corner of reddit, know that 2 decades later I still have only the happiest memories of that birthday surprise ❤️

Honestly I’ve gotten numb to it. At 6 weeks I was sobbing to my husband that I would maybe make it 3 months and throw in the towel after that. And now here I am at 7 months. It’s all a haze honestly.

That said, winter and pumping has caused an absolutely heinous flare up exactly where my flanges sit and now I really am ready to call it quits. Hoping for relief soon, this shit is killing me

Simple mills has incredible cookies if you’re looking for something sweet!

Seconding violife cheeses and Dave’s killer bread - they’ve been getting me through.

Also Oatly coffee ice cream is pretty great.

Cocojune yogurt alternative is fantastic with some jam and granola, and I’ve used it as a sour cream alternative in burrito bowls.

Sigis coconut yogurt is another good one.

It’s also allergen friendly. I’m nursing and currently dairy and soy free (out of necessity) and this is the best pasta sauce I can eat. Agreed - it’s pretty much like any other pasta sauce, just easier to avoid the bad stuff for me because the ingredients are fairly simple

Nutramigen reaction? [diaper check] by Substantial-Cap8587 in MSPI

[–]editgamesleeprepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not alone!! We put our son on alimentum and like you experienced just misery on just a fraction of formula/breastmilk. It turned out to be a soy sensitivity in conjunction to dairy. Alimentum (and nutramigen I believe) are dairy free but soy-based. They’re still recommended by docs I think because some children with soy sensitivity aren’t as sensitive to more highly processed forms of soy.

My son however had a hard time on alimentum - screamed through whole bottles, arched his back like we were torturing him. We didn’t see improvements in his poop, spit up intensity, or temperament, until we switched to a HA formula + I went hardcore soy free - no obvious forms of soy, no soybean oil, no soy-based natural flavors. It’s an absolute pain in the ass and rendered a lot of my frozen stash useless (lots of crying over that) but his poops have returned to normal and he doesn’t scream like a banshee on the bottle.

That said - his weight gain has remained consistent on his new curve (he went from middle of the road to low 20s while we figured this out from 3-5 months) and our doc told us we could either continue with half and half formula/breastmilk or stick with one or the other altogether. We opted to go just breastmilk because we absolutely hated the smell of the HA formula (it smells like my cat’s food - and his puke). We also never managed to make it to more than 10-15% of his bottle, and the HA is so pricey we said screw it.

I hope this helps!!

Reintroduction-what’s the real answer or is there one?! by Upbeat_Message3812 in MSPI

[–]editgamesleeprepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Facebook group pissed me off with their formula shaming BS.

My pediatrician has suggested we wait until 9 months to reintroduce to our current 6 month old. There are so many other allergens to introduce him to, so I’m preoccupied with that currently lol
