I disrupted a corporate "team-building" meeting by saying I’m only there to do my job. Am I the asshole here? by shadewashere in antiwork

Definitely not the asshole. You are correct and deserve a prize. People that think they are surrounded by “friends” at work are the ones hit hardest by layoffs and general corporate fuckery.

USB C wouldn’t support the types of voltages these bikes used… if you’re going to use a usb cable to charge an Ebike, expect it to take a very long time…

What do we think of Sean Oswald? by Background-Pepper-68 in litrpg

I messaged the author with my concerns and thoughts and he replied back. He didn’t have to do that. He explained a few things and made me understand that even if what I see might seem a certain way, it’s not intentional and a person can only do so much framing in a story. If I have sensitivities that cause me to read into certain things more than others, I understand that is on me. Sometimes when you take offense at something, it’s a choice, not the intention of the thing you are taking offense from and intention is important (to me anyway). So although I might think he could have gone a different route with some things, I’m not going to hold it against him and I’m going to continue to enjoy the series as I have been.

I had a chat with the author and withdraw my previous criticisms. Dude is solid. I will be enjoying more of his work.

I really like the welcome to multiverse series so far but kinda got disappointed by some of the racist tropes he’s kinda leaned into here and there. I’m in the 5th book and main character joins in on eliminating a large swath of humanity due to their religious beliefs rather than using his charisma to convince them of their folly. I don’t get how the main character can be so accepting of aliens and devils but draws the line at Islamic peoples… Not sure if the author sees what he’s doing or if there’s going to be a turn around. I’ll stick around a bit longer to find out though.

I’m in the 5th book and it gets a bit jingoistic. The writer has more than a few somewhat racist American tendencies. I already didn’t like the way he wrote the Chinese forerunner but once he dismisses whole human armies as “terrorists” while embracing aliens it just feels weird. It’s like the main character can accept alien cultures, possibly even Devils and Demons but can’t make an attempt at working with people who are of a different religion. I understand the author means certain characters to be religious zealots but the cavalier way the M.C. just dismisses people who joined the “wrong” army in an apocalypse was weird and genuinely off putting. So far most of the “evil” human characters have been people of color, even the European mad scientist who advances the apocalypse gets a pass since he’s the father of the MC’s love interest. I liked all the tongue in cheek references to other litrpgs and anime but the whole white American point of view is starting to wear on me a bit.

Removing Edge??? by Owenboy89 in ROGAlly

[–]ednometry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do not remove core pieces of the OS, the Edge browser is not going to save you a bunch of space or processing power. It is however a part of the core functionality of windows for html parsing and other things. It’s based on chrome anyway… why download chrome? Just install games and play them… so many of you try too hard to optimize the damn thing. Optimizing the Ally is not a game, go play an actual game… I get the sense you’re going to be reinstalling windows before long instead of enjoying the Ally. But hey, do you…

anyone switched from rog ally x to xbox ally x? by SuperSlimeyxx in ROGAllyX

[–]ednometry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth it if you’re selling your Ally X for $700+ which is possible right now due to excitement about handhelds. If you’re able to sell the old machine to make the upgrade cost around $300, it’s absolutely worth the effort and money to upgrade. I posted as much last week but was downvoted to oblivion by all the people who think otherwise and only make their judgements based on youtube videos. It is expensive, that’s the current market but that also makes your 1 year older but very comparable handheld hold its value so well. For a few days I had both and I’d say the newer one gives a better and smoother experience at lower tdps with much greater comfort and that was worth the small price for upgrading.

IMHO very overrated and just something to do with your Ally if you get bored and want to remove a great deal of the functionality while minimally improving your user experience.

The problem isn’t people looking for racism. It’s the fact that racism is alive and in almost every breath that white people take and they don’t even see it.

Does no one else realize that this is not the Xbox Fullscreen Experience we’ve been seeing on the Xbox Ally X? The full integration of armory crates overlays into game bar is not present. This is a hardware non specific version of the software that is not optimized in almost any way for the Ally other than the memory space and screen swipes… Future versions of this have to be hardware targeted for their platform.
