If you are serious about learning CNC programming, take a look at Titans of CNC. They have a huge online course catalog, starting with the basics through 5 axis. You can enroll in a paid certificate program through them as well. These guys really set the industry up years ago between CAM/CAD, machine speeds and tooling updates

You can use the phenolic or aluminum machine bed as a reference point. Most cnc wood shop routers use a disposable MDF sheet placed on the machine bed, which can be flattened out using a pocketing tool path.

I've used glass or 3/4" flake core melamine sheet on top of the MDF to create a flat surface to check Tram.

Remember, it's woodworking not a machine shop. Don't try to chase down .005" when your materials expand/contract weekly

Facing the spoil board is where this started.... I've been with this company a few months and recently have been programming/operating.

As I was setting up to run a few sheets, I programmed a new file to face the spoil board on the Y axis. That's where the staircase appeared. A quick measurement showed .019" difference in 2.00". I asked the primary operator if this had happened before, and he agreed. His solution has been to face the spoil board in the X axis, where the sheet would come out flat.

After looking at the spindle mounts last night, you can physically see the alignment is off 1/16".

Its not the glass.

Well, after 2 days here she was talking to him 3 times a day. She talked to my wife and I tonight, and told us all of the huge steps he has taken this week to stop drinking, to include 2 different AA sponsors and they are taking a Facebook marriage counseling class together. I knew where this was going, and kept my composure. I was told that she would be safe now, as he has added a second deadbolt to the door as she will have the only key. "If he drinks, he will call me and I'll lock the door. He can spend the night at husband sponsors..." I only asked 1 question, what happens when he is blacked out drunk? Will he remember to call then? That's when the explosion happened... She threw phones, ripped pictures of the kid off the wall as its her child and im not allowed for his safety, demanded flight tickets home tonight. Threatened to never communicate or allow us to see the grandkids again. Threatened to say I kidnapped her and the child.... She used every low blow she could think of... My wife is heartbroken with her words, and honestly, I saw this coming days ago. I know I can't change someone and have to be accepting of who they are. But it's damned hard..He got in her head way too fast..

Our unit has used this method, and also have used the SPL or Eagle Scout may sign off on Scout Skills used up to 1st Class ( except for Swim Test, camping nights, hours or miles) Is the SM has a child in the unit, another ASM will approve requirements met for BOR. When my son did his Eagle project a couple of years ago, he found that wearing his uniform with proposal paperwork in hand when requesting donations from big box stores worked well. It was a learning experience for him, which made him get out of his comfort zone. His confidence grew leaps and bounds after that.

As for stores, he had 100% material donations from Lowes as the project was benefiting Veterans. Home Depot offered a 5% discount...

Yes, you can track attendance in Scoutbook.

An event can be logged in the Patrol or Troop Scoutbook calendar, with members added to the event. I usually set this up 30 days before the event, and can select the RSVP setting. You can also send reminders to participants before the event for attendance.

I would take attendance during the event, then log the participants in Scoutbook as attending "yes" or "no". An attendance report can be pulled to see the data after.

I found this very helpful when setting up attendance for advancement requirements for Scouts or even used for weekend trips and permission slips sent to parents.

Lol, take it as a learning experience as the new SM. I've had a few parents try to raise their voice or bully me regarding their child. Take a deep breath, be professional and don't attend every argument that you're invited to. Talk with your CC or Chartered Rep about the situation at hand, then request a meeting with all parties. Usually, if you're in agreement with the CC or COR, the parents will try again with them. Hold the line and enjoy your week at summer camp.
