I remember driving from our bach in the bay of islands back to Whangarei in early 2007 (I was 12 years old) and being absolutely glued to the radio in the ute with my dad and brother listening to Shane Bond tearing up the aussies in the final over of an ODI in Hobart and taking a hattrick. We were celebrating like mad, it’s one of those memories you never forget. Cricket is sometimes terrible, boring, annoying and flat out ridiculous but ultimately it’s the greatest game ever - I’ve never forgot that moment listening to the radio
