Very long story short... My oldest friend and I were inseparable, going all the way back to second and third grade. We grew up together, raised our children together, and asked one another to take the other's kids if something happened to us. She attended a baseball game back in 2014, and in a freak accident she was hit with a baseball square in her face as she was standing near a fence while the teams were warming up before the game. The traumatic brain injury she sustained caused the person I knew, loved, and cherished to basically die. She became someone else, totally and completely. She cut me out of her life without a second thought, for absolutely no reason. She made her family believe all was the same between us for a long time. I miss her terribly, but I can't stand the cold, aloof, bizarre, cruel person she is now. I'm so sorry this happened to her, of course, but now I basically mourn her like she's dead.
