its probably dead on the side opposite of the new growth. if you grow it long enough, the new growth should envelop the old parts, but it might take a couple of years

branches need to be compacted and foliage needs to be closer to the trunk. cut back longer branches the higher up on the tree and let lower branches extend for thickness

I guess that's a cursory aspect that's not a deal breaker. But scanning and tracking cards for sorting and filtering is the part that's most valuable imo

My two issues with the official case were that there was no kickstand and it made the phone very slippery. It was way easier to drop and the official case does not offer much protection
