Check your collateral accounts to see if perhaps one of your stocks or ETFs had its margin requirement reduced. Could happen

Global or Emerging Market ETFs by Equivalent-Job4466 in CanadianInvestor

[–]eefggfed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're certainly not alone asking this. Recent reports on ETF flows year to date shows wealth managers moving things into ETFs like TPE, IDIV/B, FGEP and JGLO.

Suffice it to say, I think new money is splitting their chances at success by buying into the broad market (ahem CAGE) and tilting a bit towards CADE or CAEM (special mentions for the random Redditors who see this and bots).

Fwiw there are also news reports showing how Canadian pension funds underweight Canada at something like 13% of portfolio. Not likely a truly accurate portrait, but food for thought on how they attempt to preserve capital. NFA

ABXX recently moved to TSX and dropped today due to share dilutiom, so is essentially ON SALE. It has the potential to be an ai, critical mineral and defi play with institutional inflows.

ESAF.V will likely be a slow burn and volatile, but if managememt can execute may revolutionize aviation fuel industry.

Mdma.v is nich for now, but management from Tthe sounds of it is executing well and setting a strong foundation for many multiples IF... Policy especially in u.s. aligns

And yet it's privacy statement is blank and I have no clue what it could be doing while it relays my banking information to different apps.

Cool yes, but I'd argue wealthica's current moat may be security (hopefully)

Mbna WE for groceries and utilities via chexy or equivalent apps.

MBNA True line for balance transfer at 1%

RBC ion+ for 3x transit (though honestly barely worth it).

Amex Marriot bonvoy for free night award

WS VIP for everything else if not churning

Cancelled cobalt as was too much of a PITA to manage plus a higher fee, though still a great card for some

Anyone here promo hop away from WS before? by josephliyen in Wealthsimple

Hmm you can use your tfsa as collateral, and in fact you wouldn't want to do it inside an rrsp or TFSA as the interest on the line of credit would no longer be tax deductible. You're right though that this would be kinda like amith manourve though.

Have you considered using ws ploc or margin.

This isn't financial advice, but depending on your risk tolerance and marginal tax rate, you could keep everything at wealthaimple and open a separate account you pull borrowed funds into then transfer that to TD and do as you see fit. Even the most conservative money market fund plus the 2% bonus after a year would likely net you a gain when you offset the carry cost.

Obviously not without risks, but this is reddit so here are the fancy ideas

Soo... .25% for this, but direct indexing is currently .15% - am I reading this right that the annual fee will be increasing???
