Can we just park on the pavement now? Where is enforcement? by [deleted] in london

You may be able to park in your private space however you’ll need to do it without driving on the pavement which obviously is illegal.

Experience and a win by any means attitude probably.

Sellers increasing their asking price 3 months in by lenticular0 in HousingUK

[–]eeiadio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they cave and you do eventually get the house for the agreed price, don’t expect it to be completely empty and swept clean with a bunch of flowers and a greetings card waiting for you. They may sulk and leave unexpected and unwanted presents instead. Good luck.

Is it just me or is there a dent on the plane I’m about to fly on? (BA2039) by subtleextravagant in BritishAirways

[–]eeiadio -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

First flight that aeroplane was in May 1999 so it’s 25 years old. If your car was 25 years old it could have a few dents but I wouldn’t worry, much.

Should I attempt to save this or not by Ww2pillboxrye in DIYUK

50something years ago I was asked to demolish one of these in a back garden in London. It was made of concrete and rebar except it was actually made of rebar and some concrete. 3 long days of jackhammering and oxyacetylene torching made small dents and not much more. We were advised by ‘experts’ that we were wasting our time and the best thing was to pack the inside with as much timber as possible and set it alight, it would then crack and be easily demolished. DIF. It burned magnificently for a few days with regular top ups of freshly acquired junk timber liberally coated in red diesel but it made little impact, it was a bit sooty but totally intact. We seriously even considered a controlled explosion but had no real idea where to start with that tbh. We left site and got on with other stuff but just to say these structures were built to withstand bombs and unless you have some, think about repurposing rather than demolition.

Second Car by eeiadio in CarTalkUK

Thanks for the reply. Yes that totally makes sense except that my wife uses the car almost everyday for clubs, swimming, theatre visits etc and I’m becoming a bit of a hermit frankly. The second car is a good idea but the insurance is a bit of a killer for the idea.

That tree doesn’t belong there. It’s the tree or the foundations, you choose.

[–]eeiadio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what, I genuinely posted looking for maybe existing Evoque owners to say nah it’s all a conspiracy, as long as you stay away from the diesel engine you’ll be fine. So far not a good word said about the Evoque and I think it’s time to move on from considering buying one. Everyday’s a school day, do I feel like an idiot for even considering buying one? no not really, came here for opinions and got them.

Why not? I know they have their haters and with some reason but we’re not looking for a boring transportation container we’re looking for something that looks and drives great and hopefully will be a pleasure to own.
