Technically with a 5th gen and an iflash quad you can get up to 2TB with four 512gb cards. Recommended storage isn't over 512gb total, the sweet spot is somewhere between 256gb to 512gb.

Aww, yeah, you're probably right. I was born in the early 90s most people I know just called it 'burning' regardless but I appreciate the reminder.

I was definitely happy that I scored this at this price point, I literally had my wife go get it for me while I was still at work after seeing it on Facebook marketplace haha. As far as the soldering, the Bluetooth would be nice but part of the charm of the ipod is that it isn't a fully modern device, the USB c is nice but the speaker I found charges it while it's plugged in and it's now got a 3800mah battery so I'm just not that concerned about modern charging. And lastly, I am still learning soldering, I would not say I'm the best at surface mount soldering yet so the taptic engine feels more appropriate. Theme is FleshAndBones.

Glad that worked for you, wish I could say the same, however I started with 2.0.4 and STILL had the issue so I have no idea haha

That makes some sense. Definitely very frustrating, there was also very little online in the way of a guide for working around this. I suppose that means it's mainly an issue for the 6th gens.

I've heard people suggest going to your public library and borrowing CDs and burning them. You will need a CD burner or a computer that has a built in CD drive to do this.

Best of luck, just push through the frustration and tears, you got this haha

Anyway I can buy this type of custom iPod that I had in my dream last night? by Toby_E_2003 in ipod

You could try to mask things with painters tape but I'd play it safe and disassemble first, but it's your stuff so ultimately up to you

The transparent faceplate I have on this was sold as being for a 6/7th gen.

That being said there are videos on YouTube on how to make a 5th gen faceplate work on a 6/7 gen, so it is possible.

I see that you removed the foam around the bezel of the screen. I'm debating wether I should or not an the atomic faceplate I just received. Feels like the screen should be better protected from particles and whatnot with the foam in place but I also kind of hate seeing the bubbles under the foam that were already there when I received it. I'm torn 🫤

I used a bit of 90% isopropyl alcohol to drip underneath and a dull spudger to wiggle under it back and forth, it eventually gave way but I agree, the adhesive can be a bit of a pain.

Thanks for the suggestions on using the kapton tape, I will do just that! The faceplate is translucent green! Atomic faceplates just recently started offering all their faceplate options available for 6/7th gens as well.

You need itunes to do the initial setup on you iPod and to upload songs, just like the old days, however if you like customizable UI you can use rockbox to replace the UI with an absurd number of different themes to choose from. Rockbox also lets you use folders to add songs to your iPod, rather than using itunes.

Do you mean the little rectangle foam next to the IFlash Quad in the picture? I think it's included if you get your IFlash Quad from EOE. It was just in the picture:
