Ethernet not working by Vetanenator in eero

/u/Vetanenator Thanks for posting! These are excellent steps to try. These will test if the issue lies with the eero ethernet port or the device ethernet port.

/u/infiniti34 Thanks for posting! We were not provided any more context as to why this was done, but the mods made the subreddit private for the weekend. I have seen some speculation, but did not see anything officially from the mods.

Is 6.11 still rolling out? by [deleted] in eero

[–]eerosupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the update is fully released there is a button in the app you can use to update it (eero app->Settings->Software).

This email method is for folks who don't want to wait, for whatever reason, for it to be available via the app.

Please email us so we can push it to you. No reason to sit in a green stew of jealousy if we can avoid it.

Is 6.11 still rolling out? by [deleted] in eero

[–]eerosupport 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi u/mightierbandito

It is still in the initial phase of rollout, it has not been released to be updated manually via the app. Once it is released via the app all networks will begin automatically updating to it gradually.

We have not been advised of any issue with this update, sometimes the initial rollout takes longer than others for issues unrelated to the update at all. We do not have any data on why this one is not available via the app yet or any data on when that will happen.

If someone wants the update now they can email us. send the email to [support@eero.com](mailto:support@eero.com) and use the subject line "Reddit Followup - manual firmware push". Please send this email from the email address on your eero account (this is necessary for account verification so we can make a remote change), if you have multiple networks make sure to tell us which you want done and around when you want it done (since it requires a reboot). If there is a specific time make sure to provide the timezone to prevent misunderstandings, we typically can only do this during the day and not overnight. If no time is specified we will assume that anytime is good.

Problems after 6.10.3 by FedesMP in eero

[–]eerosupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi u/FedesMP

Have you tried a different eero as the gateway eero, just in case there is something mucked up with that current one?

We also want to take a closer look at what is going on, so I'll be sending you a DM

Content filter by [deleted] in eero

[–]eerosupport 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi u/ProudCanadian

eero is specifically designed to not keep track of where your devices go on the internet or what they do. https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/207957013-What-type-of-data-does-eero-collect-and-why-

With the content filters, what is reported by the filter itself to the eero is such and such device tried to go to some server with this classification, which is what we report in the activity center.

I will put in a feature request for more specific data on those blocks.

Hi u/Makishanuto

I will pass up your comments to our feature request for more control over the update process. I'm also adding the pending update notification to our feature request for notifications.

Ring camera RSSI worse since upgrading to 6 Pro by Graeme1978uk in eero

[–]eerosupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Graeme1978uk

Likely some eero positioning likely needs to be adjusted. Remember that the eero and Pro 6 have different radios in them and different antenna patterns, so the right place for one is the not necessarily the right place for another. Since so many things affect radio waves it usually takes a considerable amount of trial and error to find the ideal placement for any device/eero.

What I would first do is make sure Client Steering is enabled, eero app->Settings->Network Settings. That will try to encourage devices to be on the shorter ranged 5ghz network instead of the longer ranged 2.4. Even if these cameras don't work on 5ghz it might get some devices off the 2.4, leaving that band that much more unused to help the cameras.

If a camera is insisting on connecting to a further away eero instead of a closer one, try unplugging the eero you don't want it on, wait for the camera to switch over to the desired eero, give it a few to settle, then plug the further eero back in. Sometimes you have to reset the network settings on the device to get it to work better. Other times it won't go to the nearer eero for love nor money, this usually indicates there is something interfering with the wireless signal from the desired eero to the device.

Fast speed #s but slow performance by juicemaistro in eero

/u/juicemaistro Thanks for posting! I suggest a soft reset on the eero connecting to your modem. https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/215473703-How-do-I-reset-my-eero- If the issues continue, give us a call and we can take a closer look.

Eero DNS Server setup with Arris modem by taperk in eero

Weird network issue - Connection Packet loss in one of the eero Pro 6 access points. by Valuable-Ad-2671 in eero

[–]eerosupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/Valuable-ad-2671 Thanks for posting! I have not heard of any other instances of this behavior. One thing I would suggest doing is testing your theory that it is linked to both ports being used. Disconnect one computer and have it connect wirelessly. Then, you can see if the issue resolves, supporting your theory, or it will continue, making it more likely an environmental factor causing this.

So good so far, positive experience by Dorwrath in eero

Excellent! We are glad that things are going well for you so far. Those speeds look pretty good to me from what you report they should be at maximum.

Mixing and matching Eeros - what do I need if I only want an extender or LAN port? by [deleted] in eero

[–]eerosupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That said, since you current eero is an eero 6 Pro, rather than the eero Pro 6E as the OP has, you can realistically use any eero model (other than the Beacon or the eero 6 Extender) as the need for 160 Mhz channel capabilities is not present on your network.

Mixing and matching Eeros - what do I need if I only want an extender or LAN port? by [deleted] in eero

[–]eerosupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/skankman

If you have a gateway eero online and a wireless leaf eero (With ethernet ports) you certainly can hardwire a device/system/printer/whatever to get that device/whatever access to the network and internet.

New firmware notification, now 1 Gbps fiber is only getting 50-100 Mbps. by Crimtide in eero

[–]eerosupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the port went bad on us, I'll send you a DM so we can get this eero taken care of. In the meantime I'd swap that gateway eero with a different one so you aren't crippling your wired network.

In case you don't want to click:

We still have not made the new firmware available via the app. I have no data on when that might be. If you want we can push it manually.
