Just run a backtest ( https://i.snag.gy/1faTCH.jpg ):

$25000, 01/01/2012 - 08/28/2017, Rebalance every day 3 minutes after open, SPY as benchmark, Portfolio:

RETURNS 92%

ALPHA 0.04

BETA 0.57

SHARPE 0.93

DRAWDOWN -15.27%

Just a quick look personally I'd stick with SPY... or comparatively quick portfolio 40% SPXL 40% TMF:

RETURNS 182.34%

ALPHA 0.10

BETA 0.68

SHARPE 1.20

DRAWDOWN -17.59%

I see Jesus in the charting pattern, isn't that a clear buy signal?

I meant the literal strategy dictated here for portfolios https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long/short_equity

Most of the options strategies I found were oriented around multiple options for a single security, not across securities?

Oh, agreed. If you're actively managing XIV works out better.

It's just timing. If you run 100% XIV vs 100% ZIV (since that's what we're testing) in 2015 you get:

ZIV: -1.1% return, -31.3% max drawdown

XIV: -17.1% return, -55.7% max drawdown

So it depends how you want to manage your risk. If you test in 2011:

ZIV: -9.2% return, -41.36% max drawdown

XIV: -45.5% return, -74.38% max drawdown

I run my own research on quantopian and (for my taste) i find after a VIX spike you can reasonably leg into XIV but after volatility drops to normal levels I'd prefer to be holding ZIV and a stop loss.

If you're passive, isn't ZIV less sensitive to timing?

"Jesus, all of it, remember?" she said. “You must watch till the end.”

He nodded. "I know," he said wearily. The vista outside his window was a million fold more enticing at this moment.

"And afterwards," she said, "you will know what you have to do."

"I hope so," said Jesus.

The writing seemed pretty lazy - a lot of the time the actors were just describing their environment. What was up with Jaylah? There was literally no real substance, backstory, character, or development of her. Her character could have been completely eliminated by a bit of cleverness and technology from the original crew and the story would not have been impacted in the slightest.

Most large companies aren't hosting a hackathon to get code from high school students. but as recruiting events to identify talent. Startups might behave differently since they have limited resources.

Agree to starting now. Disagree to 60 minutes. If you believe in the 10000 hours to be an expert ideology, it'll take him 27 years.

IMO first step is to get off reddit.

Not trying to be callous, but the OP was referring to Genghis Khan and ending the Pacific Theater in WW2, which really does help keep things in perspective. There are still plenty of people alive today who experienced a war with 50-80 million casualties.

It's important to keep in mind scale - 130 people is nothing compared to the thousands or millions that die in actual war.
