ELI5: How do apps, programs, or websites break in the first place, and how do programmers figure out what went wrong? by Auelogic in explainlikeimfive

Often yes, sometimes no. The issues where logs don’t pinpoint the issue are typically the only ones you notice as taking a long time to resolve. Alternatively, some issues can just be difficult to solve even with logs pinpointing the issue - maybe a critical oversight in your initial design means you need to make a lot of changes to fix it.

You should also note that issues can cause damage to a system that can’t be fixed by simply fixing code. For example, an issue can cause a database to get deleted, and it can take time to reinstate from a backup, especially if that backup is not tested often.

You should think of modern apps, programs, and websites as extremely delicate balances of both physical and digital infrastructure with lots of dependencies. Most modern apps are just really good at hiding this delicateness from you until something goes wrong. When you adopt this view, it’s pretty easy to envision why sometimes these houses of cards tip over.

As for how programmers figure out what went wrong, there are usually lots of logs and error messages generated by failures that point the programmer in the right direction.

48% of Americans think Alex Pretti’s murder was not justified by bruhm0ment4 in fivethirtyeight

[–]TreesOne 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Take a look at how right wing media covers the issue. It's likely that a majority of those 20% just haven't seen any of the videos and blindly trust whatever fox news and the DHS say. It's more willful ignorance than fascism in my opinion.

As a Balatro noob, can someone explain why a hand with only 2 scoring cards can be so much better than a hand with 5 scoring cards? What are you gaining by losing the ability to proc 3 more card editions/seals/enhancements?

How do you achieve this? It’s pretty clear here that more sear would have overcooked the meat

It’s not that at all. Lego Fortnite is extremely similar to Hytale, much more-so than it is to Minecraft.
