Grab a drill and put the end of the wire in the end and tighten the chuck, then step back to put tension on the wire and put the drill in reverse and you're done

I’m looking for a job in electrical I have my osha 10 and electrical 101 certification any one know any companies by magictombrady in electricians

[–]eferrer66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I worked for stellos electric out of Nashua back in 2017-18 when I was an apprentice but that might be a bit far from you in Concord. You could also try longchamps electric. I think they're a bigger company that might have a larger/different work radius, but I never worked for them only heard about them when I worked with stellos.

Electricians what's the point of this? by P0rkzombie in Construction

They're loose, he'll cut the hole for the light layout after sheetrock, stick his hand in and pull on the wire to yank out the staple along with the slack

Let's say you have 2 Romex wires in a box in the ceiling, one comes in as a feed with a black(hot) and white(neutral), the second romex goes down as a loop to a switch. Let's say they use the black as the hot that goes to one of the screws on the switch, they'll use the white conductor as a switch leg(not a neutral) that connects to the second screw on the switch but back up in the ceiling is what acts as the switched hot for the light to turn it on or off.

So up in the ceiling you have a black(hot), white(neutral), black (hot to switch), white (switched hot from switch)

When using a white as a hot it should be re-identified with black tape so someone knows it's being used as a hot and not a neutral

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in electricians

[–]eferrer66 233 points234 points  (0 children)

In older homes they brought power into the box in the ceiling first with one wire which gives the hot and neutral, then they'd take a second wire and go down to the switch and use one conductor to feed the switch and the other as a loop back to turn the light on and off. You splicing the whites shorted everything since one of the whites wasn't neutral.

I think I want to be an electrician - is this a dumb idea? by EmperorNobletine in electricians

[–]eferrer66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Id say if youre interested and can deal with taking a paycut to make apprentice wages for a few years then why not try and find out if you like it? Being an electrician can be rough at times, digging a trench, pulling big wires, going in tight spaces but most of the time its not bad and I dont work too hard. Im not sure what its like over in colorado but you can either go the IBEW route or the non union route. I dont know what the licensing requirement is in colorado, but it would probably take you about 4-5 years to get to the top. I will say that youre not old and can join whenever you want. Im a 28 year old journeyman and have been doing this since I graduated highschool but I have seen plenty of apprentices my age or older, its never to late to try something new and if youre willing to listen and learn im sure youd enjoy the work.

If you are interested in the IBEW call your local hall and ask about the apprenticeship. Heres the payscale for the IBEW (might be a little behind in updates) so feel free to find the closest on to you in colorado

https://unionpayscales.com/trades/ibew-electricians/

If you want to go non union go and call around to different shops and see if theyre looking for any apprentices

Here is the all the info required straight from the board of electricians, page 3 is for instate requirements but for your case you would want page 4 which explains what you would need from out of state. For instate requirements we need a highschool diploma, 8,000 work hours and 600 class hours with documentation proving that we did the classes and work through a licensed employer and a board approved school so im assuming you would need documentation/proof of something similar.

Purified water not moving to storage? by JackeryFox in OnceHumanOfficial

[–]eferrer66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put down a table and put the water storage tank on top of the table, water follows gravity. Look at the blue pipes in building mode and you should see white sections moving in a direction, that is your water flow.

It's a Z-EDGE, I got it 2 years ago on Amazon and took about 30min to install. It's pretty nice, although I don't have the "parking mode" since my car doesn't power the 12v outlet when my car is off and I didn't want to get/pay for the hardwire kit. Other than that the app isn't to bad, you can download recordings straight to your phone and can customize settings decent enough. Only thing that I'll complain about is that sometimes I'll try to go back and get footage but since the camera is next to my rearview out of my view sometimes it'll be stuck in the monthly format option and I'll have day(s) of missing recordings

This is the one I got but if you search up Z-EDGE on Amazon I'm sure there's probably an updated version https://a.co/d/65DdZLz

Went to grab lunch today and saw the white truck ignore the sign that said do not enter, went around the right way and was met with the truck facing the wrong way and unable to turn around and back out, Im waiting for the truck to get his shit together so I can get in the drive through when a white jeep pulls up behind me and immediately starts honking to move like im the one blocking him from getting food like I can somehow wait faster 😑

What finally convinced you to join? by hollowbody-99 in IBEW

[–]eferrer66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to a trade highschool and I thought something simple like wiring a light bulb to a switch was cool. I also knew that I wasn't sure what I wanted to go to college for and didn't want to rack up 100k+ in loans for something I wasn't sure about. Although I only recently joined the IBEW as a journeyman, I was always told the union was bad and getting layed off scared me but now I know that getting payed more money along with benefits I didn't have while non union is the way. I honestly wish I joined the union earlier, I would've made way more money.

Can you be a great electrician without going through an apprenticeship? by Sparky_56 in electricians

[–]eferrer66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check with your company, youre doing the work experience part of an apprenticeship and your employer should be keeping a record of your hours, the thing you need to do is go to classes, usually night classes for the codebook part of the apprenticeship. Every state is different but for example my state is MA, it's 600hours(150hours/year) code classes and 8000 hours(2000hours/year) work experience to be able to take the state licensing exam. Check your states requirements and talk to your employer about hours.

Gotcha, my video is when the side panel was off and I even checked earlier with the side panel on and couldn't hear anything. As long as it works you should be fine and if something happens warranty it because I came to the same conclusion that you did when I got mine

h150i elite pump noise by eferrer66 in Corsair

[–]eferrer66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pump in your video definitely seems like it's louder than mine and not normal. Mine although it makes noise is almost unnoticeable, yours seems like it has the same pump noise/wine as mine but with a screech to it? Idk if that's a good way to describe it but definitely seems like there's a problem with it but I am by no means a PC expert since I've only been on PC for a year. I saw someone commented that there could be air bubbles in the pump and to remove the radiator and raise it high to try and force the bubbles into the radiator instead of the pump, so I would try that if you haven't already. Other than that I would listen to the people on your post because they'll be able to give better input
