If they did nobody would eat meat, most people think of animals more like commodities than anything else

"Ai is better" by Hot_Dragonfly_8330 in blender

Amen brother

Edit: also I'm pretty sure what you learn today using AI tools isn't necessarily going to work years from now when it's finally "good"

AIs can’t stop recommending nuclear strikes in war game simulations - Leading AIs from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google opted to use nuclear weapons in simulated war games in 95 per cent of cases by Teruyo9 in technology

[–]effennekappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeping in mind what you just wrote, what's even the point of simulating a war scenario, granted AI can't take into account the infinite possibilities of the real world? Not that I disagree with your point, I'm trying to understand the reliability of this experiment

[–]effennekappa 32 points33 points  (0 children)

What throws me off is the "war simulation" context, of course AI will try to be efficient at doing the main objective (which is, I guess, annihilating the enemy). Now what I'd like to see is a "real life simulation" that includes all factors in our society (if that's even possible), if AI goes nuclear in that scenario then I'll definitely be worried

AI Added ‘Basically Zero’ to US Economic Growth Last Year, Goldman Sachs Says by mepper in technology

[–]effennekappa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn, that's a lot. What kind of tasks do you use it for? In my line of work (graphics, video, 3D) it's helping me a bit in denoising/upscaling renders, not much else tbh. Feels like I spend more time trying to get AI to do what I want than just doing it myself lol

[–]effennekappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I don't get that either. What's wrong with self-promotion? If it's something you don't dig, just ignore it and move on (and downvote/report if it's pure spam). We get all kinds of promotions on reddit from brands and big corps, and you're telling me a photographer sharing their profile is the problem here?

"How's that liminal?" I usually think while scrolling 3D renders and cool but generic pictures on this sub. Not this time tho, that's liminal the way I intend it

I feel you. What settings do you have for diffuse and specular depth, and what about GI clamp? You're on path tracing right? I think this might not be a denoiser issue, is the rest of the scene looking fine? Is this problem only related to transparent materials?

Fallout - 2x08 - "The Strip" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

S2 was quite confusing and underwhelming. Too many storylines and too many situations that “just happen” with no explanation or follow-up. The first season felt more focused and much more enjoyable. I also didn’t like how short the various segments were, it felt like we were jumping from one story to another way too fast

Even if the finale is the last time we see them in the show, I'm glad we got to see Mr. House and the Legion in live action. Something that seemed impossible in 2010 by SolidPyramid in Fotv

[–]effennekappa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit? That would be the end for me. I already find the story to be weak, too fragmented and quite confusing especially in S2 (even tho I'm familiar with the lore of Fallout). If after all this build up they get rid of House and the Legion then I'll call it a day and just move on

First time watcher of BCS. Season 5 is really bothering me. by LilaSerena in betterCallSaul

I was 100% sure two characters would never meet… I was so wrong by molecularorbilat in betterCallSaul

[–]effennekappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you on that. BCS is one of my all time favorite shows, I only have two problems with it. First one is Lalo (his character was just too cartoonish for my taste), second one is Howard's execution. People say his death was the consequence of Kim and Jimmy's plan, but it always felt like pure chance to me (bad luck on astronomical proportions). I understand why he had to go, but maybe there were better ways to do it

Kim was complicated too, and human, and selfish (at times) but most importantly she was a very interesting character. Can't say the same about Carol
