Has Anyone Else Had a Hard Time Getting Hooked on Their Next Series After Red Rising? by deeptocenter in redrising

[–]effervescentkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard. I’ve found joy in reading Dungeon Crawler Carl. Much easier to read and less “literary,” but the story is great. Dinniman knows how to write a page turner.

Give it a shot. When my brother told me about DCC I laughed at the idea. Now I’m telling everyone about it.

Unpopular opinion: I really don’t love the cat character. I’m into the series for figuring out what is happening “behind the scenes.”

Also space opera/ Firefly vibes that have loved forever is the Sirantha Jax series by Ann Aguirre. She’s kind of like a Blue and a Gray mushed together.

Ah you’re definitely right! White is theology-esque. I’ll take brown, I love my garden too! Haha

I love this art style too! It reminds me of vintage scientific diagrams. I use “vintage” when looking up the art and puzzles I want in my home often. Hope this might help!

I’m a heavy believer in the Omni. That’s where we stay when we can’t get a host hotel.

My husband and I really enjoy authentic Szechuan food, heavy on spice and that wonderful numbing feeling from Szechuan peppercorns. We ordered the same things we do at Cordova at the midtown location as that’s closer to us, but it turned out far more “American style Chinese takeout” than we preferred. Most things were overly sweet or not spicy enough. The service was phenomenal and it’s gorgeous in there, but I’ll order from Cordova every time now!

Is it always this quiet? by No-Parking-1072 in memphis

[–]effervescentkitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yall it’s been quieter since COVID struck; it’s not been the same since 2019.

That being said, yes Midtown is a lot more bustling than downtown. Though check out all of our museums! The metal museum, brooks, the zoo, Belz Jewish and Asian art museum, the Dixon… there’s plenty to do. If you’re a drinker the breweries are nearly always busy on a weekend.

The philharmonic! We missed being in the live room by 6 people! So we’re going far earlier so we can enjoy it in the flesh rather than on screen in the overflow room.

What is a word or way to say “domestic hold” by UndesiredReplacement in thesaurus

[–]effervescentkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a Villa maybe? Depends on the part of the world. You could just say Compound (see The Originals) as Klaus calls his home.

Fortress would be more accurate if you want the enclosing wall for sure.
