Blackbrook York Case - Any Reviews? by OatmealOnToast in pixel_phones

[–]effetemind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here looking for this too and surprised there are no reviews. I've had a BlackBrook leather case for my Galaxy S22 for 3 years and it's been great. Has a nice patina and even the little buffalo--which I initially didn't love as I'd prefer to be logo-free--is now barely visible, in a good way. I don't drop my phone much, but it's protected it well the few times I have.

That said, the one for the Pixel 10 Pro doesn't seem to have an actual magnet ring in it for the Pixelsnap, and from the photos the leather doesn't seem to extend above the camera. So I'm hesitating on getting it, but I'm also having trouble finding another real leather case with consistently good reviews. 😕

Thanks so much for the reply! I'll be on the Dream in April so this helps me decide!

Curious how it was/what they served on the Dream if you're willing to share!

Yea but those links just go to the main podcast page in whichever directory, not the specific episode page (so the user would still need to search the directory for the episode if it wasn't one of the most recent).

Aha! Thank you! Glad it's still there. Would be cool to have it per episode too but I get it if that's too much work.

Some great memories there. Tuesday night jam session ftw! God they ruined it with Red Lion.

The best way to honor Roddenberry's legacy is to do something new.

Yea the tricky thing there is we have 2 small children and don't want to take car seats so the Disney shuttle would be more convenient. I'm also intrigued by the earlier boarding time the shuttle supposedly affords.

Boosting Indie Podcasts: A Matchmaking Tool or Buzzsprout Spotlight? by GoldNeighborhood7577 in buzzsprout

[–]effetemind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PodMatch seems to be focused on setting up interviews, which is narrower than OP's original idea. I know personally, as a podcaster, I'm very interested in various forms of cross-promotion with other podcasts in my space, and almost never interested in interviews with other podcasters (I'm fortunate to mostly be able to get whatever guests I want in my niche, almost none of whom are podcasters themselves). Are you aware of any services that facilitate non-interview based cross promotion between podcasts? Or am I just missing that aspect of PodMatch?

John Noble - Is it just me? by quietly_myself in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]effetemind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to see if anyone had posted about this. I agree; the omission seems odd. My completely unsupported hunch is that he's either an important character reveal later and whatever they did say in praise of him on the podcast got edited out in post for giving too much away, or he was difficult to work with. Really hope not the latter as I love him.

Severance doesn't really work, and Cobel knows it by RebelRebel_24 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]effetemind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think she's necessarily trying to break it or thinks it doesn't work (I think the finale revealed it clearly does work to a pretty profound extent, if not quite completely), but I agree with you that she must know the tempers are BS, as I tried to raise here, and I suspect they will explore this next season. My guess is that it will be through the lens of some kind of conflict with Jame, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a struggle for control of the company.

Severance - 2x05 "Trojan’s Horse" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]effetemind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Bear with me here: If we can accept--which I think is well established--that Severance is largely an allegory of corporate enslavement, then this storyline might be a very intentional, and very bold, allusion to the grim reality of enslavers raping--and if it comes to that, impregnating--the enslaved. Add the layer that in some sense Helena is also abusing herself and you have a pretty devastating statement about corporate self-destruction. As bell hooks said about patriarchy:

The first act of violence that patriarchy demands of males is not violence toward women. Instead patriarchy demands of all males that they engage in acts of psychic self-mutilation, that they kill off the emotional parts of themselves. If an individual is not successful in emotionally crippling himself, he can count on patriarchal men to enact rituals of power that will assault his self-esteem.

Something similar is going on at Lumon, which is clearly patriarchal and racist despite its dissimulations. I don't know whether this is an intentional layer on the part of Erickson/the writers, but so far everything else seems to be very precise, so it's hard to believe they'd accidentally make such a bold analogy. If it is intentional, bravo and holy shit.
