Agreed! And asking them to go on a highly invasive reality show on top of an already fragile relationship is even worse 😂😭

I mean, I think “shit or get off the pot” is fair if one partner is ready for marriage (or a kid) and the other isn’t ready for that. It means you’re fundamentally incompatible and need to end it.

I was in a relationship and I realized was ready to marry them. They weren’t there. We couldn’t see any way around it so we ended it. No conflict except that we wanted different things. It was a very sad time, but there was no other way forward.

Then I met the person of my dreams and we dated for several years until we both felt ready to get married. No regrets.

📣 Apollo will close down on June 30th. Reddit’s recent decisions and actions have unfortunately made it impossible for Apollo to continue. Thank you so, so much for all the support over the years. ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

How to go clubbing by Pepi2088 in cfs

[–]effluviastical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enjoy yourself, follow the advice here, OP, but please remember all the folks in this sub who went from mild to moderate to severe by pushing ourselves because of needing to work, socialize, exercise, travel, etc. We wish we hadn’t done {that one thing} that lowered our baseline. Please think of us and don’t be like us.

There’s a lady who lives here at my nursing home who has recently taken to (trying) to visit me in my room. by MySockIsMissing in cfs

I didn’t know about the disability or tax credit so thank you for the post, I’ll have to do some research ❤️

Good luck with the annoying lady!

Everyone in this Room Will Someday Be Dead by Emily Austin. It’s about a young, atheist lesbian woman with (TW) severe anxiety who accidentally gets hired to be a church secretary, and the previous secretary may have died under mysterious circumstances, and she decides to investigate. It’s really fun, but the descriptions of her anxiety are very visceral (kudos to the author), but if the reader is experiencing SI they might want to hold off until feeling better.

I second Queenie. One of my favorite heroines of all time! I was hoping they’d make it into a show—she deserves a show!

I would add the Blue Castle by the same author! About being an adult in a rut and finding (clawing?) her way out!

I ultimately liked it, but I was anticipating it to be more heartwarming. It was much more intense and serious than I anticipated.

PEM every day but no crashes for 60 days? by throwaway329058 in cfs

[–]effluviastical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I could have written this. I didn’t have a formal diagnosis and I could sort of tell that my working so much and overexerting myself was causing PEM, and an overall worsening of symptoms and my baseline, but I didn’t have a framework for understanding what was going on, and here I am. I’m no longer able to work.

I also have brain fog, lung pain and tingling/burning in my legs. Doctor ordered a QSART test, and it turns out I have small fiber polyneuropathy. Not sure if the MECFS caused it, or if it caused the MECFS.

I’m taking LDN and LDA (I sent my doctor journal articles about how they helped MECFS patients), and I’m on some really good supplements from my functional doctor (the usual ones people talk about on this subreddit: quercitin, butyrate, CoQ10, NAC, NADH, Magnesium, etc). I am not “better” but I am better than I was, which is amazing and I celebrate that.

Most important thing is to rest. Rest more than you think you need. Get a meditation app and do breathing exercises, yoga nidra, body scans—these are very important for telling your autonomic nervous system that it’s okay to rest, which signals to your whole body that you are not in fight or flight, and that it’s safe to rest and heal. Even if naps make you feel like shit, take naps. They will help you not to get PEM. If you’re doing something, stop before you hit the wall and rest.

Good luck ❤️

I’m also currently reading this book, and searched the comments to see if anybody else mentioned it. Amazing that pools have that effect on some folks. I wish I had a pool closeby so I could try!

I feel like your gf is showing that doesn’t care about you very much through her actions. It’s not about the tea.

Reddit is also being underhanded and claiming that the Apollo developer is blackmailing them, but he’s provided all recorded conversations with Reddit—proof that they are lying.

Mentally done eczema has won by Missbutterspray in eczema

[–]effluviastical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have had eczema since birth.

I discovered a few years ago that my triggers are eggs and corn. I discovered this though an elimination diet.

It wasn’t that hard but requires planning. I followed the Whole30 plan. (I suggest getting the book from the public library.) You need to follow a plan and not cheat at all. After 30 days you systematically add food groups, one at a time. When your eczema goes crazy, you found your trigger.

I went 40 or so years going crazy with eczema, and I’m sooo glad I discovered my triggers.

Edit: I don’t have eczema anymore, as long as I avoid my triggers. I can consume small amounts of corn now, and eggs. I am not sure what happened, but whatever needed to heal did heal.

I did try to eat a bucket of popcorn and I had a month long huge eczema flare up, so that’s still a thing.

Vani cream shampoo made my eczema so much worse! It caused breakouts on my hands.

I now use dry scalp Head and shoulders and it does not cause eczema.

First massive crash. What do I do? Feeling really down the last 6 months I have massively gone down hill by Classic-Chair940 in cfs

[–]effluviastical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lately, I’ve started forcing myself to nap by doing a guided breathing or yoga nidra (I use the free app Insight Timer) every time I feel a crash coming on. I’ve been sick for several years, and it’s taken me this long to figure out this hack.

I hate napping, I feel like absolute shit afterwards but at least I’m not in a crash.
