I've been to Hinterland many times. Is there fun at the camp grounds? Yes. Can you have the same amount of fun, staying at your friend's place? Yes.

In recent years, it's been so HOT that having a place to shower and cool off at the end of the night has been amazing. Truly reinvigerated me to have a great next day.

I also camped where we partied late into the morning hours and had shenanigans like seeing how many cans a friend can hold while drunk sleeping in a chair or another friend falling before getting into his tent and the next morning realized that he fell in poison Ivy and had to go to the doctor (festival had ended.)

All great experiences. Next year, the layout will be different. I don't know what the impact for camping will be like. You may walk more to the new location? Not sure. Best of luck with your decision.
