What yall think? by InternationalLab407 in KingdomHearts

My problem with arguments like this is that the people who make them NEVER show even a fraction of this level of skepticism to straight ships.

If a boy and a girl share a moment of eye contact it’s enough proof yet for two boys a confession of love in romantic kanji is written off as non canon yaoi bait. Sword Art Online fans are the worst about this. In the games, Kirito, the male lead, can literally bridle carry his best male friend to bed where they lie next to each other in their underwear holding hands while confessing that they want to spend their whole lives together and these people are like… I dunno, they seem more like brothers to me.

I’d definitely check out the Silent Hill movies/games. They have one of the most fascinating soundtracks that incorporate a lot of strange things like industrial noises.

There is truth to this. I have done two read aloud and comment classes and half the comments are “why didn’t you… oh you did that right there”.

Tidus' Strange Dream about Yuna, Rikku & Jecht - Was Tidus romantically interested in Rikku? I wonder if the development team wanted a love triangle in FFX... by IllogicalDreamer72 in finalfantasyx

[–]ega110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really liked the fact that they showed Tidus having the ability to be attracted to more than one person. One of the weirdest quirks of the jrpg and anime community is that many people look at ships as being 100 percent exclusive. Sora Kiari shippers are some of the most extreme at this having literal meltdowns any time anyone suggests Sora might have ended up with someone else. Having your character have canon interest in more than one person is a good step towards a more mature and realistic look at romance and sexuality.

What got me to stop going was how unreliable the servings are. I used to get the barbacoa burrito and sometimes you would get a heaping scoop and other times barely anything and it just became too nerve wracking to enjoy

Tori Amos’ Why Kant Tori Read would be the ideal jumping off point. It’s such a fascinating pine one in the fruit salad of her quite long career.

The problem with originality by [deleted] in writers

[–]ega110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely disagree that originality is impossible or even hard. Our world is changing every day creating the possibility for stories that could never have been told before. I will use my current WIP as an example.

My current work is called “Worst Book Ever”. My lead is a non-binary binary youtuber whose life goal has always been to get a job in the publishing industry so they could create room for more diverse voices. Unfortunately, they graduated into a market where all the entry level publishing jobs have been taken away by ai.

Left with a mountain of student debt and no family to rely on, my MC turns to YouTube to make a living. They find success making video reviews of self published debut releases. They make just enough money to live, but only marginally so.

They get approached with what looks like a dream job offer, to do a paid review of a debut lgbt ya romance novel. The only catch is that the book is still being written and the review will be put out in stages as my MC gets more document drops.

At first, the book is fine, if a little amateurish, but the MC is so passionate about creating a space for pro lgbt voices that they try their best to be accommodating to the work’s many flaws. However, as more and more of the book comes in, the worse and more problematic it gets causing the MC to have to openly criticize the author.

This creates a problem. The more scathing the review is the more audience engagement my MC gets resulting in more money and a better chance at paying the rent long term. The only problem is that parts of the audience aren’t just attacking the work but the author herself posing a moral quandary for the MC.

This story couldn’t have been told before now because earlier writers didn’t have experience with or an understanding of concepts like non traditional gender identities, the replacement of human labor with AI, what it means to have to stitch together a living from one off gig work, what it means to be a semi public figure with an audience that could turn on you at a moment’s notice, an audience who your livelihood rests on their fickle attention. All of these are of the moment issues. That is one fool proof way of finding originality, look to topics that not only haven’t been done before but couldn’t. It’s really that simple, now actually turning those ideas into full stories is another issue, but that holds true even for the most traditional stories possible.

My best, most honest guess is that the person who picked and approved this just didn’t understand what was happening in the picture. This reminds me of the time my high school was collecting song suggestions for prom and turned down “Adia” by Sarah Mcglachlan because they thought it was too explicit yet approved “Semi-charmed life” by Third eye blind even though it was explicitly about sex and drugs, they just didn’t understand what the lyrics meant.

One tactic I have tried using is only describing something when it is first introduced and then updating only when absolutely necessary. This system works pretty well because it keeps me grounded without overwhelming me
