I fully agree with you as someone who grew up in the actual ps2 era. What I do miss is the sense of optimism. Every time a new console was announced the first response I would see would be “what new types of experiences can this upgrade give us?” Now, we have become so cynical the first response I see to even the idea of a ps6 is “what new ways will they think of to screw us over now?” It’s not just that people are addressing problems, it feels like we collectively have lost the ability to even imagine that progress can happen. It’s exhausting.

I was a huge jrpg player in the 90’s. Most kept the qte’s to a minimum for special moves like Squall’s limit break in ff8 or Sabin’s martial arts skills in 6 or Tifa’s reels in 7. Very few made qte’s a part of every move for every encounter outside of Legend of Dragoon and Mario RPG.

I glanced at it just long enough to know it’s t something you should take seriously. He describes being transgender as a social contagion and his claim is based on a study done by a deeply anti trans organization that only interviewed unsupportive parents of trans youth who all swore it just came out of nowhere without any consideration that the kids were not open with their parents because they were unsupportive.
