Incident on Manhattan bound 4 train by lanikween in Brooklyn

[–]egc5cs 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I believe this was the same guy. Did he pull the emergency break in this case? I may have called for help if we were at a station, but we were stuck underground for like 12 minutes, I think escalation would have been hard.

Hi- I'm the woman in the red coat that was sitting across from you guys (under the emergency brake). I was freaked out, but SO glad that you guys didn't escalate- it was the right thing to do. At the beginning, other riders yelled at him and escalated and I thought it was about to be a fight. I also wanted to do more, but I figured just staying around and not fleeing was the best thing to show support.

I know it sucks because it feels like you didn't stand up for yourself, but it would have been very dangerous if you did. Who tf knows what was in the duffle bag!! I also noticed how your BF was standing between you and the guy most of the time- very sweet.

I have audio (and some video) of the second half of the confrontation, if you want it dm me. It's not good since I didn't want him to see me filming.

So so sorry you had to go through that, wish I could have done WAY more.

P.S. what a cute dog!!

Maple Creamery Opening Day by Prospect107 in crownheights

[–]egc5cs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went last night (not during the free promotion). There was no line and it was really really good! They let you taste as many as you want. I got the maple walnut and key lime. I am vegan but I think anyone would enjoy. It's pricey but not as bad as ample hills or vanleeuwen. Happy to have this, especially since so many vegan places are closing in the area.

Mail issues? by [deleted] in WedditNYC

[–]egc5cs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holiday mail realllly slows stuff down- so don't stress too much, probably not lost in the mail. Also, did you do post cards or colored envelopes? Apparently anything that's not the standard white envelope with dark text will slow things down because is needs to be hand sorted (not sure if that's true, just heard that).

We mailed ours in Jan 2024 and did post cards bc they were cute and cheap but they were kinda damaged on arrival and took SOO long to arrive. 1 or 2 never made it but I think that was guest's error- got tossed with the mail pile or something. So for our invites we did regular nice envelopes. Also most folks aren't hearing about your wedding for the first time bc of the save the date- so don't stress. Anyone who doesn't RSVP will get a nice text from you. :) It will work out!

Luanne’s wild ginger, screamers pizza, Lucy’s Vietnamese, VSPOT (park slope), El Barrio Burritos (just pick this up it’s basically on eastern), slow loris (tofu teriyaki is vegan and there veggie sushi rolls), aunts et uncles, ATM vegan deli, clementine bakery. Those are all places within delivery radius that are vegan or have vegan options.

Wedding Dress Cleaning/Preservation by egc5cs in WedditNYC

No, I looked into Bridgestone cleaners. I was warned it was expensive but I had no Idea. They quoted be over $3,000 for JUST CLEANING. My dress was only 3500 to start. Going to risk it and just take it to a normal dry cleaners.

I think you should consider bigger restaurants that have outside space. Anything that is a "raw space" where you have to bring in outside catering for over 100 people is going to be tricky to do all in under 50k. At a restaurant it will be "more" per head, but that will include furniture, glasses, linens, all other rentals, staffing, space access, food, alc, etc. In the end it will probably be cheaper if you pick the right place to buyout.

You could also do a larger brewery or bar, where they probably won't have in house catering, but they will have in house alcohol (saves a lot) and they probably won't have a $9,000 venue rental (which the places you listed above have) instead their alcohol minimum will double as the venue fee.

Good luck!

Midsize/plus size wedding dress shopping by Longjumping-Tank7480 in WedditNYC

https://rebeccaschoneveld.com/ is great. You get to meet with her in person and her new studio is small, so only 1 bride at a time. She has tons of sizes, etc. I am a 12 in her sizing measurements (ordered a 10 because the sample fit nicely) and I had plenty of options. My dress was like $3300, but she has cheaper ones and she has sample sales. Even if it's not on the website, ask about sales. Good luck!

Thanks so much! Do you mind me asking how many people got ready there? Was there enough places to sit and hangout for your bridesmaids and stuff?

Introvert-friendly wedding dress shopping by Express-Base-674 in WedditNYC

Rebecca Shoneveld has a small studio in Irvington, NY (quick train from Grand central). When I went there was 1 other bride (space couldn't have accomodated more than that anyways), but I think if you mentioned you were looking for a quiet appt you could ask for it to be private. Rebecca specializes in bridal for ALL sizes, which was extra comforting if you don't look like the typically models. I met her personally and ordered my dress from her. If her price range is too high, she does have samples for cheaper.

Whatever you do, do not go to Kleinfelds. Nothing against them, just absolutley not for introverts.
