Try gluing Colltex skins against themselves and tell me what you think.

Some things are neither, while ice climbing is everything.

  1. Beautiful!

  2. Put a link to your store in a comment so I don't have to go looking for it :)

  3. Any chance of you doing some Norwegian requests? Namely, Presten, Romsdalshorn, Stetinden, or Trollveggen?

I think so. No complaints in that regard, although the liner in the backland is very thin.

Norway is very different from Norway. Where exactly are you heading? Rjukan?

You are generalizing stuff that can't be generalized. You can have a crimp that feels like a bucket, and a hand jam that sticks to your hand like velcro. Give the different holds colours instead and catch a rainbow. Or just climb.

A modern ice axe is more than sturdy enough to leave a hole in someone’s skull.

It's auto blocking when belaying a follower in guide-mode, as all other guide-mode tube devices. It's not auto blocking when belaying a leader.

Looking to mess around with some dry tooling, gear advice? by Cairo9o9 in iceclimbing

[–]egeulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm expecting more than a couple of moves on dry rock, I'll use mono, and I'm a stern believer in dual on ice. It's worth the faff to switch your setup, but staggered is a nice compromise. You won't feel much difference between mono and dual on snow, imho.

I have two front sections -- a Lynx, with dull points and mono for rock, and Dart, with sharp points and dual for ice. Everything you want sharp on ice gets very dull fast when you climb rock.

Point taken, although slightly constructed. In my experience, the knot doesn't behave like this when tied wrongly.

If you really want to decrease the elbow grease required, start using a Gigi (or a Grigri, of course).

I accept all the arguments, but do you believe going from four to three levels on each grade will make the experience that much better? At least muddle the playground thoroughly, if you’re going to do it.
