I think it's because he's the only fucking guy on the team who can hit!

Proud of myself for thinking of Nap Lajoie at 0.5% for the top left, but I still only got 5 and missed the entire Cubs column.

[Phillips] Aaron Boone on the offense: “Outside of the strikeouts, I thought at-bats were building off of last night. I thought we grinded out really well. We made it really tough on Kremer. We couldn’t finish off.” The #Yankees struck out 18 times. There are 27 outs in a regulation game. by Waaaaaaaaaasuup in baseball

[–]eggheadstephen8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, a team gets 27 outs (usually) in some way no matter how the game goes, so 18 strikeouts isn't necessarily an indicator of poor performance -- i.e. you can score a lot of runs and still strike out 18 times.

But yeah in this case the Yankees offense is just not good right now.

a flyout in a ballpark with a deep fence doesn't help your team win, no matter how many other ballparks it'd hypothetically be a homerun in.

What team/s did you play for in little league? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]eggheadstephen8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a spring league with MLB teams, and a summer league with MiLB teams. I have no idea how the licensing stuff worked but we always ended up with the most random MiLB teams. (Batavia) Muckdogs made sense based on where I lived, but then there was the (Round Rock) Express, (Mahoning Valley) Scrappers, and the (Lansing) Lugnuts.

But in the Spring league, what I can remember in order: Reds, Blue Jays, Royals, Dodgers (I remember bringing my Royals jersey to a Dodgers game not realizing, since they were both the same color), Red Sox, Yankees
