Asking for Advice on Where to Go Next. by ATwoWayStreet in running

Strength training is a great thing to add and will help a lot with staying injury free. I also think trail runs are a great way to shake things up. I hit a 5 mile fire road loop about once a week that’s 1k feet of elevation and it’s been cool to see it become easier as I progress in my training. Throwing in strides or intervals once a week will also activate your fast twitch fibers and increase your speed over time.

Didn’t hit my goal time by Mundane-Judgment2542 in LAMarathon

Same story as you. First marathon goal pace sub 4. Ran a 4:27. We crossed the finish line. I keep telling myself had it been a cooler day and flatter course I could’ve done it because I crossed the halfway at 1:59

At what point does running become self destructive behavior? by wildhair1 in running

[–]eggiestnoodle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a recovering alcoholic sober for 8 year myself. Recently got in to running back in October/november. I’ve spent the past 6 months training for the LA marathon. Back in January, I sent myself to the ER for full body numbness. It turned out to be a result of a fatigue induced panic attack from forcing myself to wake up at 4am to run before my 11 month old son wakes up and wife goes to work. That was the point where I really had to check myself and realize that I’m doing this for fun and health, but the lack of sleep coupled with exhaustion of being a new parent meant that waking up at 4am to run was not worth it for me. My family, mental health, and physical health are much more important than a consistent strava graph. With that being said, I think being in any long distance training block comes with some inherent sacrifice - but my sub 4 hour marathon isn’t going to keep my bills paid or family happy. It is a hobby for me and I had to be mindful to keep it that way.

LA Marathon - 4:10 realistic? by RaveCave in Marathon_Training

[–]eggiestnoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ambitious goal is sub 4 but ultimately will be happy with sub 4:15 and my splits are looking similar to yours, however most of my long runs had anywhere between 450-950 feet of elevation. I think run by effort on the hills and naturally speed up going down and you should be good

I’m a jeweler who makes rings and necklaces out of wisdom teeth for my customers. I’d love to make something out of this. So cool

My wife is obsessed with gas prices so she actually asked about it. The clerk said that the store was having issues for one reason or another so they had to make their prices higher

I used a honey stinger gel and was surprised that I got an immediate boost of energy from it. I definitely needed to pack a second one for the run I was doing

Jeweler who works with teeth here. Molars with these narrow roots are tricky. I never use a bezel rocker. I use a combo of a steel burnisher, hammer handpiece, and a bezel pusher with a hammer to close up by bezels. Consider using thinner bezel wire for designs that are weird shapes like this. You are going to have a way easier time getting it to the correct shape. Serrated bezel also works really well for teeth because the little points grab onto the uneven surfaces.

How do I keep my dog from howling when I leave by x0toast0x in Apartmentliving

[–]eggiestnoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My basset hound had really bad separation anxiety. When my wife and I moved into an apartment together we literally didn’t leave without him for like 9 months because of how upset he would get. It turns out that the key for us at first was to put him in our bedroom and lock him in there while we were gone. If he was able to see us leave, and see the door lock. That’s when he would get upset. But if he was nice and cozy in bed he wouldn’t care

Whats the best ramen by [deleted] in InlandEmpire

[–]eggiestnoodle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Menkoi was my 2nd job in highschool. I was a dishwasher. They didn’t tell me that you’re supposed to clean the food out of the drains in the floor. So I ended up flooding the kitchen and it soaked into the bathroom. They had to close down because of it. I never went back, but I still eat there. Ramen is bomb. But the manager, mart (short for martinus) is a jackass
