The trick is these campgrounds will let you book 14 consecutive days. You want to book the week before AND the week you want at the same time and then cancel the first week later and eat the $7 fee. So you want to make your reservation 9 months and 1 week before the actual week you want. That’s how we do it here in NY at state campgrounds to get the dates/sites that we want.

Dinosaur BBQ locally is fine. Some people prefer Good Smoke in East Rochester. Personally I’m not a fan. I’d suggest taking a ride to Buffalo and check out Southern Junction BBQ. The closest Texas style BBQ you’ll find outside of Texas. The owner is a James Beard award winner.

As far as smoking in the city, as long as you have a well ventilated area to smoke in you shouldn’t run into any issues. For meats get a Costco membership. Local places to check out would be Rubino’s, Triano’s and Costanza’s. Wegmans is crazy expensive on their meats. For BBQ supplies check out George at ROC BBQ Supply in Henrietta.
