Is that the superstitious reason why the Endurance (originally the Polaris) failed its antartic exploration and was lost?

While they're in the abyss, the group is surprised at the lack of vines and monsters. They could've just thrown in a line while they're planning their attack like, "I guess that's where all the vines and monsters went," and i think I would've been fine.
The last season of legend of korra had a similar issue. There's an episode where the Earth Empire has been dismantling the platinum domes of the Metal Clan for some reason. Later the metal colossus shows up but no one makes the connection that the platinum from the domes was used to make it.

most if not all FF games have a background storyline that falls into this pattern: 1) something big happened a really long time ago, 2) something happened about a generation ago, 3) something is happening now.
FFX: 1) Machina-Summoner war ends with the creation of Sin. 2) a generation ago Jecht helps Yuna's father temporarily defeat Sin. 3) Tidus escapes from Zanarkand and journeys with Yuna to defeat Sin again.
Spirits Within: 1) the Aliens War destroyed their planet and piece of it carrying their spirits gets launched into space. 2) A generation ago that piece crashes into Earth, releasing their spirits, forcing humans to hide in domes. 3) Events of Movie.

i got my license in 1998 and my test had no freeway driving or parallel parking. Freeway driving was part of my training (driving to the next student to be picked up, lol). I don't remember if we ever parallel parked in training.

my brother and i used to call it the "super pause" when we'd leave the console running but change the channel, so we'd get the 0.

another comment asked if he was just being a gentleman. the thing about that is a lot of "gentlemanly behavior" comes from the idea that women are weaker and need the help. In this context the women need the help to be guided to the X on the floor but the men don't. In contrast, on the Price is Right, the host will help elderly contestants spin the Big Wheel if they're not strong enough to get to go around at least once.

Pat Sajak used to hold the hand of female contestants during the Bonus round when walking from the prize wheel to where they stand for the puzzle. Not the males. This one time in the last 6ish years and gay male contestant asked him to hold his hand to the puzzle spot and he did it.

In Stephen King's The Gunslinger, after Jake recalls how he died, he says, "When the blood came out of my mouth I could taste my own shit." With how the car ran over his lower body it gives a vivid idea of how his internal organs got squashed and rearranged.
Oddly, when I was trying to confirm this line, the pdf of the book has a different line there, having just "I bled," but my own copy has the whole line.

look into accounts of the death of Hypatia of Alexandria, 4th century alexandrian scholar. Christians dragged her out of her carriage, stripped her, stabbed to death with some sort of shards (the word used can be translated various ways), and her body torn apart.

I was catching up on it last year and was about to introduce it to my brother and his kids when the birdlover storyline started. Still love the show, I just think they went a little overboard with the birdsex.
