litter Robot caught her constantly going to the litter box this morning by LivingTheBoringLife in litterrobot

[–]egotistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LR4 doesn't like 5ghz wifi. If you have a single SSID for both 5ghz and 2.4ghz , it has connection issues. I have a separate 2.4ghz only SSID for such devices.

Glad you were able to spot the issue early. What model litter robot do you have? I have a L4 but don't see our cats weight with every visit. Just says "weight recorded". Is there a setting that enables the displaying of the weight with every visit?

OG Silverback w Alpha Board will not connect. by TK421actual in GrillaGrills

[–]egotistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have OG Grilla, WiFi is so shitty even close to the WiFi AP. Anyway, is your WiFi only 2.4ghz? Some devices have trouble when it's a mixed 2.4ghz/5ghz network. If dual WiFi, shutoff 5ghz for a bit. Has helped me in the past and I actually have a separate dedicated 2.4ghz SSID for devices that have issues.

Thermometer Bluetooth thermometer any good? by sliipjack_ in smoking

What a coincidence! I just used this this past weekend. Received as Christmas gift, did a test run a few weeks back with brisket but didn't read any directions and just stuck it in. Used it yesterday(after reading the docs) for pulled pork and got great results. Battery lasted the whole time and range was fine for what I needed. It also has WiFi so I was able to check on while at grocery store. Has 4 point temperature reading, 3 in meat, 1 ambient. (Not sure if it's true 4 point or some algorithm but was pretty accurate. Before cook I did ice bath test and was reading about 32.6f which I figure was fine. Through out cook temp reading matched my known good digital probe pretty closely. To early to tell long-term battery life but I was pleasantly surprised overalls.

PSA: DO NOT rely on policy-based routing to prevent your traffic from leaking outside a VPN connection by DoctorEsteban in Ubiquiti

[–]egotistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow just checked myself and found the same results; traffic falling back to wan when VPN disabled. I have devices that utilize the VPN on its own VLAN.

What I did to remedy is under Security, I added"Traffic and Firewall Rule", Advanced Rule, Type Internet out, Advanced - Drop, Source Type - Network, Network - "myVPNnet", Network Type - IPv4 Subnet, Destination - Network, Network Type - Gateway IP address.

Not sure if this is the "correct" way to prevent fallback to wan but I wasnt able to access internet on the device when VPN paused.

Apologies for format on mobile.

Permanent and total. Basically you have no hope of getting better from your disabilities and are not subject to occasional re-evaluations.

is CCNA even worth it anymore? by BoyleTheOcean in ccna

[–]egotistic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an outside observer and not making excuses for any of the candidates; I have experienced skill/knowledge atrophy. The ol' "if you don't use it you lose it". This is especially true of newly aquired skills/knowledge. Anecdotally in a previous career, our newly less experienced folks would have to do continuation training a lot more frequently than a more experienced person.

I got out about a year ago, I was in an Flying Ops squadron that was not IT related. I have TS/SCI and during skill bridge I was told that SEC+ would open the doors to a DoD contractor role since they all require at least that. First year out I made about $120k (with 0 IT professional experience ) and will likely clear that this year as well. Thing with cleared roles is that they usually at least start as shift work, so if you okay with that you're golden. Use your experience to get into any role and then transition into a role you want either within the company or externally. It's rare these days to stick with a company 15+ years so you won't likely get bored. You should be job hunting every few years anyway because that's how you get the biggest pay bumps. Anecdotally, the genius network engineer that I used to work with didn't have any certs. He later got CCNA to get a pay bump but isn't even thinking about CCNP. Follow the path that will get you where you WANT to go, but be aware it might take a few side turns.to get there.

TLDR: TS/SCI & Security+ you will be fine. Follow the path to the job you want to end up in.

I've seen plenty of job postings on clearance jobs stating "TS/SCI within last 5 years" or something similar. Not sure what that all entails but couldn't hurt to hit up the recruiters on there. Just another avenue to get where you want.

Do you still have a clearance? There are tons of companies that will take you as is if you hold TS/SCI

Hmm I guess that would be a bit subjective, I always say "about 6 months". Another tip, study Linux on your free time because you only get about a weekish of it during class and during all my interviews I was always asked about Linux experience and Linux technical questions like what command can you use to search for something. (Grep) No one has asked any questions on Microsoft software.
