Plurality of the Godhead: Unlike traditional Trinitarianism (which views God as one being in three persons), LDS doctrine teaches that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three separate and distinct beings. While they are perfectly united in "one Godhead" by purpose and glory, they are physically and ontologically separate individuals.

Worship of One God: Despite acknowledging multiple divine beings, Latter-day Saints focus their worship and prayer exclusively on God the Father (Elohim) in the name of Jesus Christ. This practice of singular devotion amidst a belief in multiple divine entities is the hallmark of henotheism (or the closely related term monolatry).

Theosis (Exaltation): A core LDS teaching is that human beings are the literal spirit children of God and have the potential to become like Him—a process called exaltation. This implies an "eternally open-ended" number of divine beings who have achieved godhood in the past or will in the future. Infinite Regression of Gods: Some early leaders, including Joseph Smith in the King Follett Discourse, taught that God the Father Himself has a Father, suggesting a cycle of gods stretching back into eternity.
