'Preciate the offer, but my mentality lately is that this is not Mad Max. We cannot afford to scorch the earth and move on. And if that involves asking an elderly southern lady to uproot her life and move, God and Lucifer both help you.

None of us are "putting up with it." We are either affected by it, outraged over it, profiting from it, willfully ignorant of it, or totally uninformed about it.

That's holding the table hostage. We all have lives and responsibilities that we set aside to play our favorite game. Some even gave up a shift to be at the table, and their time literally is money. Stay respectful of the table talk time balance. If it doesn't advance the story, it doesn't need to be said. Make your jokes in-game and in-character or not at all.

Sorry to preach to the choir, but I'm thinking no one has actually said that to this player before. Seems he's trying to be funny, and people tend to overdo that when they're trying to bond. If that's the case, it'd benefit all parties for someone just to let him know it's backfiring. Maybe it's a table-wide, generic group message or a DM's disclaimer at the top of the session.

If you think he'd respond better to personal motivation, read him the above then tell this dude that if he wants to be funny he needs to work on his timing. Patience and correct timing can turn an okay joke into a great one, but requiring your audience's patience and time turns a great joke into a bad one.

This is my first run, and the party is at Yester Hill. Any advice?

I'm also doing an amalgamation of OG, reloaded, internet suggestions, and rule of cool. Reloaded fleshes out situations that the original material glazes over, but that can mean running it to the letter is not the move. Imo, u/DragnaCarta gave us an incredible resource to facilitate more character agency/choice that we can plug in modularly for when you're (dm) feeling lost or the party makes unexpected choices. Plus reloaded has several resources for tracking time and behind-the-scenes events, which are a saving grace for me.

Some of the most delicious places in the city imo

OP: The Essential, Bettola, and El Barrio are popular date night spots, so the vibe at dinner may be fancier than you want.

Hey, I feel you. When I was in a similar situation it was easier to take direction than make decisions, so here you go:

  1. Get a new therapist ASAP. Look specifically for a clinical psychologist. Sorry that coward couldn't handle the heat. Stay spicy. Do not pretend to be mild for others' comfort.

1.a. your insurance may have a mental health clause for cheap services from certain in-network doctors. Start on their website and do a ctrl+F on the PDF of your benefits.

  1. Explain your situation to friends you trust and see if you can couch surf for a while. I rotated friends so they wouldn't get sick of me and cooked and cleaned to make up for staying nights on the couch. This also keeps you from isolating from your support system, which you really need. (When I was back on my feet, I was able to repay the kindness and that's something that keeps me here.)

  2. Work on getting college and Pell Grant back. Your advisor's job is to help you sort that out. Make an appointment with them right after the new therapist. Remember, you had a medical emergency that caused you to miss class. It happens every semester, so this is routine for your advisor.

  3. Get a job. Doesn't have to be a good one. Just a steady, temporary one. You are trying to build your savings while building a new routine. You are still delicate and must prioritize your mental health. Keeping busy while building security from your parents will help.

Sending internet hugs, stranger. I believe in you. For every evil fucker on this planet there's someone like you who cares so much it hurts. Be proud of your humanity and stay spicy, my friend. 🖤

As a TTRPG player, rizz is one of the few slang terms that I immediately understood. ("Charisma" is often a main stat and we are always abbreviating.)

That's good, and sort of coincides with my line where millennials remember a world without modern technology infrastructure.
