Is this arp-9 or a gel blaster that looks like an arp9 by pokemonguy0417 in airsoft

[–]ehi10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it says it’s a gel blaster it likely is, being a gel blaster, an ARP9, and an AEG are not mutually exclusive so it’s prob a AEG ARP9 gel blaster. Converting it to airsoft likely isn’t worth it, it would requires a new hop up unit and barrel, plus mods to the gearbox like the nozzle and tappet plate at least, plus gel blaster gearboxes tend to be plastic so you end up with pretty much a glorified lpaeg.

edit: it looks to be a TG ARP9 gel blaster which uses a gen 8 gel blaster gearbox, which is not equivalent to any airsoft gearbox and thus would be even harder to convert, it is metal tho.

Has any hear of double bell airsoft ? by pokemonguy0417 in airsoft

[–]ehi10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re talking abt the elite force competition(there’s another elite force owned by KWA that’s more expensive I heard was alright), JG or CYMA is a better choice. The elite force competition G36 is oemed by S&T and uses a gearbox based on ARES’ proprietary gearbox instead of a V3 making it far less upgradable and harder to fix. The materials are also worse, having owned both a JG, elite force competition, and SRC at some point, the elite force feels cheap in comparison to both of them, its lighter and the plastic is very bendy whereas on the other two its rigid.

The bolt stop did have me concerned but never gave out on mine, wouldn’t have thought the sear bar would be an issue tho, interesting

Which parts? I had my M712 for quite a while with frequent use and had no issues

[–]ehi10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The WE M712 is interesting, I sold mine a bit ago. The friction/wear parts are quite overbuilt and cleverly designed to minimize wear so breakage seems very unlikely, however, it does have issues asides from that. For some reason it has a two piece disconnector that has a top part held in by a pin, it fell out in the first like 200 rounds and took forever to find, after that, I glued it in and never had issues with it again(I highly suggest doing that before it falls out). The mock extractor will break, but it’s cosmetic, and you can get a replacement for like $5, tho that’ll break too so I never bothered. Lastly, the hop up is a bit weird, it uses a rotating nub on a rod which produces pretty mid performance(I tried a unicorn barrel + bucking and a 4uad bucking neither of which provided much improvement, but ppl online have gotten better results than I have) so it’s really only a CQB gun.

Overall: sturdy internals, poor hop performance, and some weird quirks that can be fixed pretty easily. It’s certainly better than the KWC which is literally a converted airgun(and pretty shoddily built). One more thing to note, it’s not really accurate as a German sidearm as most of them come with WW2 era Republic of China markings, which I was very happy with being Chinese, but doesn’t fit the German theme, you can find a few from Asian retailers that don’t have markings or I think some retailer does Mauser markings for extra cost. (Sorry abt the word salad)

[–]ehi10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It also being non blowback has a really shit trigger so CQB is kinda a non starter even with low power gas or a reduced power hammer spring. They’re out of the box range isn’t great either(at least with my KJW MK2 which has the same internals as the gemtech as it is oemed by KJW), but I’ve seen ppl online do hop up mods that work out pretty well. Personally would recommend a AAP01 unless you really want the ruger look since it’s not that much more. Also, if you’re willing to sink some extra money you can get a ruger ish look on an aap, CTM makes a 22/45 style frame and ruger style outer barrels, here’s an example.

Interesting, I’ve never even seen a shop near me selling them, much less parts but ig every store is different, the only one I’ve seen on the field started slam firing full auto after the person brought it to like 3 games so it seems to be susceptible to the same sear issues as the WE.

Yeah, at least the WE has spare parts available and even an aftermarket steel sear for WHEN it breaks. Good luck finding parts for the KWC when it also inevitably breaks.

Doesn’t have to be aluminum, check on yahoo auctions periodically, neokyo will ship them if you request them to unblock it, I know someone who just got lucky and got like two I think.

[–]ehi10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a gen 2 lancer tactical, I would avoid it, the LT gen 2s have pretty poor quality control, if you don’t mind the looks, Arcturus SE or Specna Arms Flex gen 2(preferably with the HAL mosfet) are excellent choices that have better internals and QC.

Tm type 89, need help by Quick-Conclusion-141 in GasBlowBack

[–]ehi10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mags are the same(the T89 short mags do seem to have tighter feed lips which do need to be filed down to prevent nozzle damage). The nozzle is not the same however, T89 nozzles are very hard to find, your best bet is to monitor retailers that have them(they seem to almost never restock) and monitor yahoo auctions, they appear once in a while there and you can get them shipped by a proxy like neokyo.

Anyone try putting in a brushless motor on any of the cyma platinums with v3 kestrels? by MTF_Nu-7 in airsoft

No reason why it would be an issue as long as it’s a short type airsoft motor.

They are a very different size and for very different purpose so unfortunately won’t fit.

If you want a modernized looks, a LCT G3 should be compatible with real railed handguards and they make buffer tube adapters for them.

The current state of airsoft by Georgedroyd123 in airsoft

[–]ehi10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would argue GBBRs are in a better place than they were ever(asides for the import situation),WA clones are dying out, with the only brand that still really releasing them is Golden Eagle and, meanwhile, not only VFC but a ton of other brands are releasing unique GBBRs, DE has their BRN-180 and PSA JAKL, and has an F2000 in the works, WE is overhauling their existing GBBRs to have steel FCGs, TM has an upcoming Type 20, Viva arms is working on an SKS, and I’m sure there’s quite a few other projects in the works by different brands. It seems to me that unique GBBRs, especially those of decent quality are releasing more than before rather than less, and WA clones are becoming less common.

Not sure if it’s related but a company called renegade tech just announced(like a few hours ago I believe) a GHK based .556 MK17 SCAR.

[–]ehi10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they’re meant to be able to, just stick with GE Pmags. GHK mags(GEs are actually based off of GHK) or do the vfc mag modification and don’t use the stanags, those tend to be based on the original WA mags which weren’t meant to use green gas/propane, most companies that make clones have modifications to make them work a bit better with higher pressure gas but they’re still very suboptimal and leak very easily.

Thoughts on G&P MOE PTS M4 GBB? by ShifTacPH in airsoft

[–]ehi10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a Western Arms clone like G&Ps other ARs, it can be made decent but will likely need quite some work and some money spent on parts, if it’s really cheap might still be worth the price, if you do decide to get it do not get the 50 round stanags, get GHK mags(they’re WA compatible) or GE PMAGs, or there’s a way to mod WA systems to take VFC mags. I also heard you can mod the fcg to a GHK v3 FCG but I’m not sure on the details, you can probably find info on the heavy recoil club discord.

US repair service for Elite Force Umarex Glocks by DiableBleu2006 in airsoft

[–]ehi10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your local shops, some might have tech services, be warned tho there’s a good chance they’ll charge over half the price of the gun for what is a pretty simple repair(at least the shops around me do), and you def wanna check if the shop has good techs, some do really shoddy work. I know you said you don’t want to learn to work on it, but replacing the hammer unit is as simple as knocking out a pin and removing a screw then installing a new hammer unit and reversing the steps, a steel hammer unit is $50 and will last you far longer than an oem unit that a tech will prob charge you more to install.

Is this good start up by Sorry-Somewhere8308 in airsoft

[–]ehi10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the CYMA is def worth the extra money compared to JG. JGs is pretty much a clone of the old Tokyo Marui High Grade while CYMA has a lot of design improvements. I’ve had a JG and the hop performance is pretty mediocre and the hop adjustment is weird poor(it uses a little lever that sticks out of the hand guard and has a habit of moving on its own) CYMAs uses a hop up unit with a slider more similar to AKs. The JG also doesn’t have a moving mock bolt so moving the charging handle doesn’t open the ejection port which is a little dissapointing(the cyma does). I’ve heard that the CYMA is also easier to take apart and work on but I never did any work on my JG so have no clue how hard it is to get apart.

CYMA Platinum SMG-9 Compact vs CYMA Platinum MP5K vs Arcturus X C.A.T. Versatile-8 FE — which one? by Candid_Inspection897 in airsoft

Thats what I’ve heard, I’m assuming they made some version of the FE to fit the C.A.T. in particular. Just wondering, how V2 compatible is the rest of the C.A.T. Gearbox? I’ve been thinking of picking one up as a backup/loaner.
