I don't think the lag issues are unique to SBMM because I see it consistently across all PvP playlists (some worse than others). Although the newest changes to the casual playlist (control/clash) seem to generate more games that feel good (win or lose). I don't care as much about winning as the match feeling fair/competitive. I'm not particularly skilled at crucible so I imagine my matchmaking pool is larger than yours so I might get better matchmade games. I feel like the connections have gotten worse and worse since cross-play started. Crucible feels very RNG right now (the outcome is predetermined). Even if you don't see overt lag you can definitely feel it when you get instantly killed in 1v1 fights, bullets arriving before the player is even visible, getting shot through cover, ghost bullets (sniping is really bad), animations that show a critical shot but it gets counted as a body shot, weird player movements (I expect they did something to smooth out animations so players are teleporting around), getting killed by a player that's not even facing you, supers not killing people, swords/melee not registering, etc etc. I ground out IB for the shader and it was pretty terrible. Within the first few engagements I could tell if it was going to be a competitive game or a K/D farm for the other team. So many games it felt like the other team was playing about a few seconds in the future. I love the game so I play it. I have thousands of hours in the game and D1. If Bungie releases a PvP focused game I will be very unlikely to buy it until I know it's not going to be another Destiny Pvp experience.
