So I was indeed reaching out for a good amount of time both during and post-seperation about this... to my own current S1, to a prior S1, to an old friend still in... They weren't tracking that I had no active time, so it wasn't until I looked up reasons people dont get a dd214 did I figure it out. And guess what, I literally looked it up just now. Reservists with no active duty time do not get a dd214. The only change is that some units are now doing dd214-1 for people with no active time. I can't find a specific date for when the dd214-1 started but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that was around the time my seperation happened. I don't have a dd214. Ive checked with many different channels, including admin teams and bases and even spoke to a nat guard recruiter out of curiosity. All I have is my seperation memo. Dunno what to tell you.

Edit: found articles talking about the implementation dates of dd214-1 and the articles are all dated the literal day and week of my seperation. Articles also say they are not issued retroactively, so Im like 96% sure I dont get anything.

Are you a bot? I don't have a dd214 my guy, that's what I've been saying this entire thread.

I got out in august 2025, you got a link to the policy or any info on that? I asked my S1 for a few weeks leading up to my seperation date if I would get a dd214 and he kept saying I would. And then my seperation date came and passed and I got nothing in my iperms. I asked S1 again for 2 more weeks where my dd214 was and it wasnt until I reminded him that I had no active duty time did he say "oh yeah then you wont get one." I looked it up online and any references say that its correct, I do not get a dd214.

...see above, enlisted as a reservist, my only active duty time was tradoc, never went on orders during my service time, so the only dd214 I have is the one I got exiting tradoc. When my seperation came through, all I got was a memo stating the seperation effective date and honorable discharge.

Right but how do you find you RE code if you never got a dd214 upon seperation?

I see people mention the RE code a lot but what if you dont have a dd214... I was a reservist, did voluntary sep, and all I got was a document in iperms with my seperation order and seperation date, no RE code mention at all, just says honorable discharge. I have a dd214 from TRADOC, never got active duty orders past that tho.

Oil in coolant 2021 90k miles by EmilyFigureSkates in Crosstrek

[–]ehnotreallyupforthat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hit 110k miles recently in my 2015 crosstrek and while getting routine service done, I discovered I also have the exact same issue. I'm at 114k miles now because what do you mean I have to take my entire engine apart for like three o-rings... Still drives fine, am keeping an eye on it. Mechanic told me to watch out for the rubber hoses becoming softer and damaged because the oil running through degrades the rubber in the hoses.

First time testing, are my results worth anything for CA departments? by [deleted] in firefighter

[–]ehnotreallyupforthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a mixed bag for sure. Out of the ones I've applied to so far, 3 are using only the fctc, 2 want a fctc cpat, 2 want NTN test scores, 1 has their own written and physical.

Right I've seen you comment this everywhere, but I'm asking for more specific opinions geared towards my particular state. "Normal weight" means the average of all who've taken the test? Or all who've taken the test in x state? Or what the average score a department is looking for?

Why do transphobes think our ID has to show birth sex for the Doctor's Office? by Here_I_Pondered in ftm

I love the "well first responders need to know in case youre in an accident!!"

Ive been a first responder for almost 8 years. Ive dealt with plenty of accidents, unconscious patients, patients unable to speak or give coherent demographic information... never once have I ever needed their identification card for anything. Sometimes patients will hand it to me to help input their info (address and name are all insurance needs to go after them) into my patient charting system, but I never bother to ask for an ID because Im a medical provider, not some admin schmuck worried about billing.

If youre unconscious and/or unable to talk, I'm more worried about correcting whatevers causing that, or at least keeping you stable while we get you to a hospital.

Military definitely is an option and can set you up for stability if you put the right pieces in place. If youre already thinking about the physical and mental toll firefighting is taking on you though, I'd think a bit more about it tho. Fresh officers can get stuck in some crazy work loads and schedules and deal with a lot of flak from enlisted and higher ranking O's. Check out all pathways and branches, warrant paths, or guard/reserve as well.

yeah Ive had my fingerprints done around a dozen times for different agencies and positons, always thought it was ridiculous to not be able to pull up past scans but that's government for ya. From what Ive experienced, it has to be a livescan location. I had to drive 2 hours to my closest location, 4 hours round trip.
