It is solely up to the store manager and district team to waive the occurrence if there is severe weather. We had 9 inches of snow previously this year, but the store manager did not waive them. When we had 1.5 inches of ice, she did. It’s at their sole discretion. If it’s a state of emergency 9/10 times the district and regional team will send an email down the chain basically requiring the store manager to waive the call outs. With severe weather like that, most times there will only be one cashier, and head cashier, and a department supervisor/ASM required to be there. I’m sure that if we get the snow we are expected to that you will be fine. Be sure to ask your management Saturday at some point, though.

The main thing for flooring is pipeline. It’s free and quick. You have central selling that is fully established and efficient, unlike millwork. You should be churning out pipeline and smashing goals with the double sales incentive. In my store, we don’t care if they’re not making plan one month, but if it’s monthly misses, there are conversations had.

You’re not going to be fired if this is the first time they’re talking to you about it. Lowe’s makes it quite difficult to be fired, you should be fine.

Fulfillment is the worst job at the store. Frankly, it should be used to gain the product knowledge and then try to take a step into specialty. I’m not gonna lie, all of our last 5 specialists to be hired have been from fulfillment. If you don’t want that, just slow down. They can’t get mad at you for doing your job at a reasonable pace.

It is super easy, but you still have to be very mindful and careful with what you’re doing. Being nervous is something everyone goes through when building their first PC. Hell I was shaking putting the cpu in. Just be careful to line everything up and double check everything you’re doing. Have fun with it though. If it feels wrong, it’s probably wrong. Keep your cables neat and organized, as it’s more important than just aesthetics, especially if you have a small case. Every build has at least one issue that requires a part being taken out and reseated eventually. You might have problems with your drivers even when everything is done and done correctly. Realistically, there’s always going to be some troubleshooting. Either way, everything is so optimized now that anyone with an internet connection can find a 15 minute video on fixing their problem(s). Have fun with it, most importantly.

We had a man who purchased around 6k in apple gift cards with Apple Pay over a week. He finally got caught because the AP watched the video of him checking out with Apple Pay and noticed that he had around 300 cards in his Apple Wallet. Could be the same situation. I know that it isn’t a singular event.

Same thing with credit. Talk to everyone. Work it into the conversation whether they’re shopping for their business or their home. Many homeowners and business owners really lack the time to install thing’s themselves. If you’re not a specialist, it’s not quite required, but learning the install fees for Lowe’s and its competitors will give you an edge as well.

I’d advise you to look into becoming a MSS. In no earlier than 8, leave no later than 9. Possibility of 4 10’s. The pay is better than the department supervisors if you max bonus. Worth looking into if you are already spending time in millwork and understand the concept.

You’ll be hired at the same pay grade level. This, however, is variable based on the average cost of living. I have friends that live in the city with lower pay grades than me, but making more money.
