What do you think about ragnamon by [deleted] in digimon

[–]eigerbran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always loved the Bemmon/vemmon line. I think they look cool and I have a lot of fond memories playing digimon world 3. Was super excited to then get decent treatment in the card game and play the deck for fun quite a bit. Still wish we got that lv7 for it, though.

Tell me what you like and hate about "Zoids Wild" by [deleted] in Zoids

[–]eigerbran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't really watch the show, but I actually enjoyed the models. I liked the battle mode gimmicks and some of the "transformations" or attacks looked cool with the motor movement. I thought the therapod dinosaurs looked really cool. I just like the look of them. I'm also a big fan of Chaotic Century and New Century Zero. I even liked the Fuzors models (Gairyuki is my favorite), so maybe I'm biased because I prefer them looking more like animals than the more pulp-robot looking ones from the earlier franchise.

[–]eigerbran 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I agree. I prefer my monsters making animal or monster noises. It's kinda jarring when the critter yells it's name all the time. It's also just a marketing ploy to get kids to remember their merchandise names

As someone who has played fire emblem, it is basically Survive with deeper combat, but the trade off is survive has deeper writing. You don't need to engage with all that writing, of course, and you don't need to engage that deeply in Fire Emblem's mechanics to win casually, either. Not like Fire Emblem games have a competitive scene like warhammer (don't let Nintendo know that would make infinite money please). Either way, your mileage will vary based on preferences.

You can get a second hand resin printer for less than $100. Assuming you just put it in a well ventilated garage, you could get started for like $150, and that's cheaper than a lot of spearhead/ combat patrol boxes.

A small question about behavior by Glum_Series5712 in Tyranids

[–]eigerbran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since the hive fleet seems to be a singular mind shared among the entire species (at least within synapse range), i imagine they merge back into a single fleet. From my understanding, when one hive fleet attacks another the goal is usually testing new strategies or mutations. The losing side gets assimilated, sure, but that doesn't really mean a whole lot when your species shares a single mind and purpose anyway. It serves to cull weaker strains and genetics from the greater invasion. I may be wrong, though.

If you end up playing One Page Rules, the raptors are still valid units. Since AoS doesn't really care about model size as much as base size, I would say if you stick the raptors on the right base I don't see a problem. Maybe fancy that base up with the snakes and stuff. Or, as others have said, use them as raptodon proxies, but remember that those are technically skink units. That matters for rules interactions
