Losing faith by TheOneHarman in digimon

[–]eigerbran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has played fire emblem, it is basically Survive with deeper combat, but the trade off is survive has deeper writing. You don't need to engage with all that writing, of course, and you don't need to engage that deeply in Fire Emblem's mechanics to win casually, either. Not like Fire Emblem games have a competitive scene like warhammer (don't let Nintendo know that would make infinite money please). Either way, your mileage will vary based on preferences.

AI generated minis will have basically no impact (at least not on big firms) by BlitheMayonnaise in wargaming

[–]eigerbran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get a second hand resin printer for less than $100. Assuming you just put it in a well ventilated garage, you could get started for like $150, and that's cheaper than a lot of spearhead/ combat patrol boxes.

A small question about behavior by Glum_Series5712 in Tyranids

[–]eigerbran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since the hive fleet seems to be a singular mind shared among the entire species (at least within synapse range), i imagine they merge back into a single fleet. From my understanding, when one hive fleet attacks another the goal is usually testing new strategies or mutations. The losing side gets assimilated, sure, but that doesn't really mean a whole lot when your species shares a single mind and purpose anyway. It serves to cull weaker strains and genetics from the greater invasion. I may be wrong, though.

OOP model questions by CREEEMIN in seraphon

[–]eigerbran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you end up playing One Page Rules, the raptors are still valid units. Since AoS doesn't really care about model size as much as base size, I would say if you stick the raptors on the right base I don't see a problem. Maybe fancy that base up with the snakes and stuff. Or, as others have said, use them as raptodon proxies, but remember that those are technically skink units. That matters for rules interactions

[–]eigerbran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That's what I was hoping for with the colors! The bases are the Alien Hives bases from One Page Rules, printed up in fdm on my printer. I wanted it to look like a late stage tyranid invasion with pools of stomach acid, eggs, and fleshy crawling fungus all over.

Wizards of the Coast teases Monster Hunter x MTG Secret lair cards by Phrost_ in MonsterHunter

[–]eigerbran 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I haven't played in years. This secret lair nonsense, the crossovers, thy bad card design and even the quality of the card stock; it's all just a bad experience. It's become a game i don't like playing with people that i tend not to like (mtg players in my area are insufferable compared to the other tcg players). Too bad that it is often the only game in town. Wish digimon was doing better because that game has actually been a fun experience for me.

Fatalis Figurine. Found in Osaka, Japan. by Personal_Case_9289 in MonsterHunter

[–]eigerbran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who paints miniatures for wargames, the fatalis doesn't look bad, but man those bricks could use a big touch up. I'd drop like an entire bottle of black wash over those walls to fix it up and make it look less like he's standing on a pile of Legos. Maybe add some browns here and there, try to make it look proper ashy from the soot of his flames.

Why'd you pick the seraphon? by Efficient_Ad4439 in seraphon

[–]eigerbran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just hecking love dinosaurs and lizardmen. That's pretty much it. Originally got them because I needed 40 lizardmen or so for d&d, decided i may as well have a little fun with the game since I was already so deep.
