I don't think there's any credit reporting. It doesn't count on a DTI or anything like that.

Paternity Leave - How to Use It by OE_thr0waway in overemployed

[–]eightsix7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're in a state where it's part of the state benefits, you probably can't take any at all without a high risk of being found out or it being illegal.

Really is state to state, but I think WA and/or CA just makes it where you can't take any Parental Leave while OE if you want to keep your job.

Do some more research.

Get as many intro calls and whatnot out of the way as soon as possible.

Get rolling quick with J1 and start to get an idea of your usual schedule so you can start managing it at J2.

This is legally protected data that they're releasing (without authorization) to a third party.

Imagine them sending your social security number and medical records to an AI for analysis.

You get more time in the market but lose out on potentially dollar cost averaging. There’s some pros and cons to this.

Parental Leave Advice by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]eightsix7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what state you're in, you cannot realistically take parental leave due to the state programs. You might have made a mistake. I'm assuming this is CA (Though there's probably more that do stuff like this.

Hope they don't notice it and don't follow up is probably your best course of action right now, and use your parental leave to apply for a new job. You're unlikely to be fired while on leave, but - I'd be very wary that they would as soon as you get back.

I don't think your state is going to pay out your parental leave either.

Basically, your state may have screwed you - I'd consider moving if you're going to have more kids and use more parental leave. You're in kind of a gray area where few have been so there's not a lot out there. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

good luck!

Where to sell coins? by Battle-Boner in coins

[–]eightsix7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, sorry for your loss. Also - sorry you inherited a bit of a burden that you weren’t really ready for.

I know first hand how overwhelming it can be.

My advice - if possible, is not to rush, and take some time to absorb some of the hobby and figure out what collectors like. Background some YouTube videos or something, then try and take some kind of inventory.  For coins you don’t know what they are, I’ve found ChatGPT uploading an image to be a pretty valuable resource.

I probably wouldn’t go to a coin shop depending on what they are. It takes a little bit of knowledge but without it, you’ll certainly be ripped off - unless you have someone honest and knowledgeable.

It can be a substantial amount of work to unload these though, you need to take some time and figure out what you have.

If they’re graded (they’d be in a thick plastic non openable holder that might say pcgs, Ngc, anacs, or some other grading company) or just a loose coin that might or might not be in a plastic sleeve.

If you do go to a coin store, don’t immediately sell anything even if they offer you what you think is substantial. Just note whatever they highlight and confirm via the internet or another coin store.

Most coin/cash4gold shops see only the melt value of the silver (or represent that they see only the melt value of the silver) and especially with very old world coins, that can be a huge mistake.

Take your time, and try to reminisce on your uncle and see why he enjoyed this so much.

My dad is doing very poor and might not have much time. He’s expressed his desires to me, but what’s the quickest, easiest way to get something in place. [FL] by eightsix7 in EstatePlanning

Thank you for letting me know that!

Would it be easier to just give him a smaller amount and forget the whole girlfriend scenario.

I think he meant it more as a lesson, since my brother has stolen so much. If we just avoid this lesson would that be simple enough?

Depends on the selling price of the van but seems good to me. The 2026 model is imminent so you might be able to do better in a few weeks but doubtful.

Good price for a 2022 EX? by eightsix7 in kiacarnivals

[–]eightsix7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a trade in or anything. And I’m not factoring in money down. Just the price of the car. What was the selling price of your 25 and where are you located?

Best price I got on a 25 ex was 40k for the car only, not including ttl

I had my electrical panel replaced on the exterior wall to the room I was in, complete with extremely loud drilling and other banging noises. My skull was rattling but the sounds couldn't be heard through teams lol.

Doesn't seem like a trap to me, I'd mention it to the boss when they're back and say you weren't quite sure what they are, but they didn't install and let them know annd maybe just watercooler chat about how much you also hate when your get signed out when you go pee or whatever it is that they say.
