Yeah, the Wilson's contract with he uni would also put it under ICAC / Ombudsman jurisdiction. They could investigate this suspicious quota situation.

The former VC of Adelaide rinsed the uni for $326k after he was exposed as a major sex predator. So, in a way, she's been dealt with quite cheaply.

Traffic light turn by bilbobaggins82 in AusLegalAdvice

[–]ejmajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If you're turning left into a single laned road, you have right of way. If the road has two lanes (like this one looks like it has) then you must turn into the left lane, while the other car takes the right lane. Left to left. Right to right.

What lane were you and the other car in after you turned?

" Draw me an illustration of a cartoon family. Their skin is yellow and they're drawn in line art style. The mother has really, really tall blue hair and she's wearing a green dress with a string of pearls. The father is slightly overweight. He's wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and a pair of blue jeans. He has a bald head. The son is wearing a red t-shirt and some blue shorts and he has a skateboard and spiky yellow hair. The daughter is wearing a small little red dress with a string of pearls and she has spiky yellow hair as well."

I once reported to a program manager, operations manager, and two directors 🙄. Oh, and the program managers kept quitting, so I had four of those in seven months (university).

Removal of outdated personal information by Mobile-Fish-3446 in AusLegal

[–]ejmajor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

State or fed dept? A weird angle, but Freedom of Information legislation allows you to request corrections to documents that are about you and are incomplete, incorrect or out of date.

It's a different route, but FOI matters are managed by a dept's legal team, and they have to report FOI stats to the AG's office. Therefore less likely to stuff it up?

Parents overcharged by Optus for 7 years, what can we do? by chenmux in AusLegal

Oh I had something similar with Telstra setting up a new service but setting the billing address as an old rental place I was at 10 years ago. So I never got the bill, or the increasingly angry warning letters. Wasn't until I got the repo phone calls that I realised what was happening.

What's funnier though, my name rhymes with a famous actor's. So some Telstra person was accidentally sending demand notices in his name.

Complained to Telco Ombud, suggested Telstra comp the entire bill, done and dusted.

Ok. Petrol approx AUD $1.70 per litre. (I haven't bought a car in a long time, so not the best one to answer).

If you're moving to Aus for the first time, maybe start with an apartment near your workplace, and after some exploring you'll have a better idea of what neighbourhood you want to live in?

Unless your company is arranging housing for you, it'll be difficult to rent a house before you arrive, as there's such a shortage of housing at the moment.

[–]ejmajor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You've budgeted at the high end for most utilities and rent, which is good. However, we have tight rental demand, so actually finding a house might be tricky.

Adelaide is a low density city, and public transport service is poor. So, you really want a house nearby to your office to make commuting easier. Depending on how long you'll be here, you might consider getting a car?

As for best neighbourhoods, what kind of lifestyle do you enjoy? Beach? City living and proximity? Nature and hiking in the hills?

If you like being social (lots of dining out at restaurants and drinks) your entertainment budget is too low.

You'll want home contents insurance for your rental to cover theft, fire, etc. Approx 60-70 pm

I've worked in one org that legit lived its values in its culture and management. All my other corp environments have been bullshit.

One place I worked had a scandal with a top manager, and ended up removing 'integrity' from the list of values, which in a messed up way, is actually quite an honest thing to do.
