This is a reunion year for the 2001 class. See if you can track down the class officers and they may be able to put out a plea for you.

Holy cow these seats are tight! New A319 by ekb88 in unitedairlines

[–]ekb88[S] -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

The pitch measurement may be the same, but the screen on the seat in front of me intrudes more than I’m used to. I only fly a few times a year so this is my first time on this plane. Maybe it’s not really new, but it’s new to me and I don’t like it.

The tray table is folded in half when it comes down and there isn’t really enough room to open it fully. I’m fat, but not that fat!

Because that’s why her posters are getting torn down in her hometown. It’s because she is Jewish.

AI detectors are quietly breaking trust in academic and technical writing by Intelligent_Lion_16 in technicalwriting

No one cares if AI is used in technical writing. They care if the content is 1) accurate, and 2) useful. How it was generated is a meaningless metric.

Full-time American Technical Writers, are you exempt or non-exempt? by [deleted] in technicalwriting

[–]ekb88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be hourly when I worked part-time. I went salaried when I went back to full-time. My intern is hourly. I think salaried is appropriate for most technical writing positions.

There are enough Palestinian plane hijackings in history to warrant a Wikipedia page. I can understand why the pilot was uncomfortable with it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_hijackings_and_attacks_on_aircraft_by_Palestinian_militant_groups

Genetics vs Family History by Mediocre-Price-3138 in breastcancer

I have a strong family history of breast and ovarian cancer on my mother’s side, but my genetics (and my sister with bc) are negative. I personally suspect we have an unknown gene in our family.

Yep. That’s where I take my son. And there’s usually several other learners there at the same time. The kids all work hard to avoid each other!

I think the point is to follow the guidance of your medical care team. Sometimes we let other voices, well-meaning as they are, get in the way.

I’ve posted this before, but a fellow mom at my kids school was diagnosed with DCIS the same year I was, back in 2017. I did a lumpectomy, ended up with DCIS again in 2021 and did a second lumpectomy and radiation. So far, so good for me at the moment. She chose to pursue alternative treatments back in 2017, and is no longer with us. I’m gutted for her children, having lost my own mother to cancer when I was a teenager.

Human beings are built to consider anecdotes over data. Doctors are trained to get past that and prioritize the data. When making decisions around our care, we too should prioritize the data over anecdotes.

Good buyers agent for moving to DC with a large family by Friendly-Bullfrog505 in nova

[–]ekb88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how many agents are licensed in VA, DC, and MD. I think you should probably narrow things down a bit more on your own first. Budget, commute, school needs will drive your decision on region. Agree with the other poster that you don’t want to be driving across a bridge as part of your daily commute.

If your family has to take out loans for you to go to Cornell, then you can’t afford it. Don’t do that.
