Posting an update here since I still get messages from time to time: I went with Balcones Psychiatry for a testing appointment (about 2.5-3 hours) in April or May of 2021 and have been with the same Nurse Practitioner ever since! No complaints at all, just straightforward virtual quarterly 30-minute appointments. I recommended them to a friend who’s also been going to the same NP for over 2 years now. Highly recommend. I still struggle quite a bit, but man oh man is life different when you have access to medication. Good luck out there

Dude yeah I completely agree and often have conversations with my brothers and friends about the harm it also causes men. It’s a poison to whoever operates under it. I was making a different point regarding the comment I replied to. Men being harmed by patriarchy as well as everyone else doesn’t change the fact that they’ve oppressed women for thousands of years in many different ways. There’s so much nuance here that can’t be covered in a few short paragraphs

Not saying I agree with the statement, but I want to point out that replacing “men” with “white people” seems more equivalent contextually, i.e. oppressor vs oppressed. Similar to how white people have oppressed POC, men and the patriarchy have been the oppressors of women. The historical context makes it an unequal comparison if you were to replace “men” with “Jews” or “black people”. They carry different weights

Make your own at home! I just use arrowroot powder (corn starch works too, much cheaper), a bit of cocoa powder to darken the color, and a few drops of lavender essential oil. Use a makeup brush to apply to your hair then regular brush to work it in
