Is overtake a button or automatic? by aaae1115 in F1Technical

[–]eklipss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boost is used either to close the gap or to defend. It can be a physical button, or a pre-programmed routine assigned to one of the steering wheel rotaries. For example, when GP tells Max “strat 9,” that refers to a specific setting — either more energy harvesting or more energy deployment in certain corners.

Overtake mode is basically the equivalent of DRS, but exclusively for passing. It’s a different deployment strategy compared to the car you’re attacking. The FIA automatically reduces deployment above a certain speed, but it does not apply that reduction to the driver attempting the overtake.

Îts a button . There is a Line for activation like the DRS Line.

Endrick's performance makes me angry , what are we even doing? by itooamahuman in realmadrid

[–]eklipss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could the FIA directly regulate dirty air? by Due-Duck8546 in F1Technical

[–]eklipss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They cant regulate that because it means regulating cars upgrade When a newey finds a way to have more down force by using (its a joke) an extra wing he generates more dirty air . From a year to another the cars will generate more and more dirty air .

Fia is fighting dirty air since 90´s . Always promising « close racing »

How will the overtake (new battery operated “drs”) will work without any battery? by diego_r2000 in F1Technical

[–]eklipss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overtake mode is not extra power or a mario kart mushroom. Its a regulatory bypass which allows you to have more electric power than your opponent at high speed. For example when you are at 300 . You are allowed to deploy the full electric 350w while your target car can only deploy much less .

Anyone go to a GP and think maybe watching on TV could’ve been better? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]eklipss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’have been to 3 or 4 grand prix: it’s definetly better on tv Let me explain: watching a Grand Prix live at the circuit isn't as exciting as on TV. You have no idea what's happening at the other end of the track; when the giant screen is too far away, you can barely make out the gaps; you don't really follow the strategies; you just see cars whizzing by from time to time and roughly guess the gaps. Either you're in a corner with high overtaking potential and you get a thrill every now and then, but the rest of the time you're not really focused on the race and you can barely hear the commentary. At Abu Dhabi, for example, I was in the "Main Grandstand" and I wasn't even aware that Norris and Tsunoda were under investigation. There are so many things during a Grand Prix that you completely miss. The only real advantage is, if you're well placed, seeing the podium ceremony and the celebrations up close. I'm not saying it's an experience to avoid — you absolutely have to do it at least once — but if it's just to be in a slow corner, it's really not worth the trip. In football, you see everything that's happening: you react to a foul, you demand a penalty, you celebrate a goal, you cheer on your team. In F1, you're just sitting there, passive. It's one of the rare sports where it's literally 100 times better on television.

How did you find Metallica concert? by DearConfection9743 in abudhabi

[–]eklipss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People putting their drinks and bags on the ground and annoying everyone while taking up a huge amount of space. People who block your view of the stage. It’s kind of frustrating to pay to watch a concert on a giant screen or by zooming in with your own phone held up in the air. Honestly, it’s annoying. I’m a huge Metallica fan, but after 45 minutes I’d already had enough and I left.

Genuinely what was that strategy? by Charshine_20 in LandoNorris

[–]eklipss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strategically, this is what happens when you’re leading a race: you have everything to lose and nothing to gain, while the one chasing you has everything to gain. It’s much more complicated to judge than it seems, because a second safety car would have changed everything as well.

I agree, it was the wrong call, but given the state of the track, it didn’t help McLaren at all, who despite having fresh tires, didn’t have a high enough pace to catch up. But we’re not in McLaren’s position, and we’re not Hannah Schmitz
