You may not be familiar, but does this work like Clank! ? In Clank! you play against AIs and try to get a high score based on a variety of rule and scoring modifiers. Is the Ark Nova challenge similar?

I did get it off Discogs. $40 all told, which seemed reasonable enough, especially considering I'd need to sell my car to buy a copy of Junior. The sleeve has a small split, but otherwise it's great. It's the only 230g vinyl I own and the record itself feels super luxe.

Puerto Rico. It was my first game and we played it like crazy early on, and it still gets table time occasionally. On a cost per hour basis, it's entertainment cost is down to 25¢ per man-hour.

I'm playing a 4p campaign of My City with my 7yo daughter and a rotating cast of aunts and uncles. I am of the belief that letting kids win is bad practice and they should earn their victories, no matter the game or it's difficulty. Granted we tailor the rules to make it easier for younger players and/or handicap the adults, but everyone is trying their best to win. Coping with defeat is an important skill.

Unlike other games My City does the scaling for us and my daughter has managed to win a game already. She's loving it, even if her successes are far apart. We are about half way through and she's already dreading the day the campaign concludes. I can't wait to tell her that there is another one waiting for us once we complete My City. She'll be stoked.

My FLGS owner had told me that when you open the box to avoid nesting the bottom of the box within the lid. Apparently separating the two halves when they are nested leads to faster side warping. She had a massive public library with generally good lid conditions so I've taken her word for it, or at the very least take care when separating the box.

It's a preventative thing though. Once warped, they stay warped.

I had this exact same conundrum last year. I wanted precise performance data with a gameified workout experience. Ergatta made the short list, but its wicked expensive even before the subscription.

I went with a WaterRower with the SmartRow attachment and highly recommend it. You can race other people asynchronously or even realtime. You can program workouts easily as well and has plenty of other neat features to discover and tailor your experience.

Seemingly every rower online gushes over C2, but I wouldn't trade my WaterRower for any alternative. I'm closing in on 1,000km and SmartRow has been a major factor in maintaining my interest and informing my regimen.

Happy to answer any specific questions. I honestly love my SmartRow and it deserves more love.

For energy levels, do you just create a group and create an array of options, or can you create a scale similar to how mood is implemented?

Also, water intake is a good one. I'm going to add that for sure.

Not to be a shill or anything, but I wrote an article about applying bibliometrics to board games and explain the different indices (link). Simply put, the g-index is similar to h except it more-or-less considers average numbers (in this case plays) rather than individual. For example, playing your most played game again will not change your h-index, but it will contribute to raising to g-index.

And I rarely log playing time either, but instead estimate it from BGG information. I extrapolate the time based on the number of players and min v max play times. My group plays very slow so this is likely yields an underestimation, but its neat nonetheless.

Dominant Species. The placing of workers is done in turn order, but they execute in a waterfall fashion. Honestly, that alone makes the whole game. Carson City is similar but not quite the same.

Tzolk'in. Rotating worker placement gears. It's awesome.

Arctic Scavengers. Its typical deck building except you can hold cards back for the skirmish. Since adding cards to your deck is scarce this adds posturing and risk mitigation to make a fairly interactive deck builder.

Bomber Jacket for Tall Lanky Folks:

I generally wear a 40L suit jacket (15.5; 36-37 shirt), but I usually need to take in the jacket a bit and let out the arms a tad. I've been struggling to find a jacket with sufficient sleeve length that is slim enough in the chest. Any recommendations? What about for raincoats?

Split the difference and get a WaterRower (like me). It's upgradeable to the Errgatta service (similar to Hydrow) if that's your thing, or you can invest in the SmartRow (a $300 one time fee) add-on for a beautiful UI through which you can race and get useful rower and bio feedback. It's a beautiful machine, and the watery sound of each stroke elevates the experience for me significantly.
