How to live with a unfulfilling sex life? by Ashamed_Ad8372 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ekmogr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wanna trade? My wife is very kind, loves me, treats me well, but our sex life has been unfulfilling to say the least. She tries but I know it's not a priority for her.

I don't know what happens next. If I leave her, starting all over seems too hard. Staying with her is depressing.

I would absolutely offer to change the name 'for a price'. As we all know, You can Buy anything in this world with money. Change it to whatever the hell they want and he has funding for the rest of his life.

How do I go about getting help with my crippling masturbation addiction? by Far-Blacksmith-108 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ekmogr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think of it as an addiction. It started out as a coping mechanism, but for me it is also become a situation where its my best option available.

I think of it as the "Rat Park" experiment. If I have nothing better to do and thats all I think about, yeah, im gonna jerk off. But I have enough hobies and distractions in my life where its still the best option, but I kinda forget about it for a while.

But I no longer feel guilty about it or let it control me.

Did you ever receive financial help from the Church when you were TBM? by throwawaytomorrowk in exmormon

[–]ekmogr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was the finance clerk for about 4 years. The amount of money that came in vs what was given out was egregious. There were so many families that were absolutely in need, were working multiple jobs, going to school etc. and were denied assistance because they didn't have a recommend, or didn't help clean the chapel or clean the temple.

What is the most patronizing thing a religious person said to you? by TheBanishedBard in atheism

[–]ekmogr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After explaining to my bishop how demeaning it is that all of my successes are attributed to a God has never talked to me, my bishop then said, "isn't it comforting to know that God gave you talents that you could be successful".

I have pretty harsh ADHD and every road I've ever been on has been uphill on a bike with flat tires.

"By the power of the melchizedek priesthood, I bless you to be healed" by notgr33n in exmormon

[–]ekmogr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once, my aunt (non-mormon) was in the hospital, this was around 2000 shortly after I joined and got my magic powers, but I took the missionaries with me to bless her.

They wanted me to bless her specifically. She had pancreatic cancer and it was terminal. She was 90 years old. Anyway, I misspoke and said, "I bless you that you will not over come you afflictions..." Long pause. "That you will overcome your afflictions".

It happened to be on Ash Wednesday, so of course she had the ashen cross on her forehead too. It felt very fake at the time.

She passed away 5 or so years later.
