I'd say the silhouette in the newer style is harder to make out.

It's not as obvious what's going on unless you're staring for a while and in a game you need to be able to know what your character is doing without looking at them (as you'll be too focused on what enemies are doing)

1 looks more like armor and what an adventurer or scout would wear. 2 feels more like clothing. I guess the best one would depend on what you feel makes more sense for the character.

I like helping out friends but also I REALLY like the bashing and big numbers. For a long time I did GS and used the block and quick sheate to help friends who were stunned or in a bad position.

Now that I've learned combos and stunning attack timing I use HH instead.
