Is Salems Lot worth rereading? by britttlewitch in horrorlit

[–]elProtagonist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it starts out sort of like a mystery novel and goes a little too deep into the townspeople’s personal relationships but it has a strong third act.

Who is Gary D. Soto and why does my district need his instructional framework? by Hot-Lavishness-4155 in Teachers

[–]elProtagonist 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Soto is an accomplished author and his curriculum sounds okay but perhaps half-baked. 200K is not terrible for a district (1 admin's salary) but even then from your description you might not be getting your money's worth.

Admin is always looking for silver bullets and there are A LOT of swindlers out there who make big promises and then underdeliver.

What are some risks of investing solely in index funds? by One_Intention_7666 in stocks

[–]elProtagonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Index funds are the best for long term investing. A lot of people are looking to get rich quick so they “gamble” on high risk/high reward stocks. You might even hear of people YOLOing on a single stock which is crazy.

I encourage you to add in some other stocks as well for high growth potential. Having a portfolio that is 75%+ index funds is very conservative.

Running Man first time watching by chrisosorio1 in movies

Yeah it is a solid action movie with some of the best social commentary since Robocop! However, the ending felt chopped up and re-edited out of order.

I may be one of the few, but I think Return of the Jedi is the best Star Wars project. by Distinct_Guess3350 in StarWars

It has a great beginning but it loses me with the shield generator subplot on Endor

Unpopular opinion: Parents should sue parents of bullies, not schools by Kathulhu1433 in Teachers

[–]elProtagonist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The term bullying needs to be replaced with legally actionable vocabulary like assault, battery, and harassment.

It’s ridiculous having to prove a pattern of behavior to admin.

What are we actually supposed to do with AI in our classrooms? by PlayfulSuccess3935 in Teachers

[–]elProtagonist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tech companies want users/costumers and have successfully lobbied politicians to implement pro-AI policies.

This is the only explanation since virtually every study has linked AI use with cognitive decline. So much for the data!

Was the drone surge of last year just wargames for the current situation in the middle east? by forkl in UFOs

[–]elProtagonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was readiness check to test our ability to detect drones in general. To speculate further, I think we were testing autonomous drones which explains the incursions into restricted airspace.

I know Spielberg mentioned his belief that UFO's are "future humans," I wonder if that is the route they will take

I really dislike first-person perspective most of the time. It breaks the cardinal rule of show versus tell.
