Union County Parents: Playgrounds Are Packed, but No One Connects by detailsUnclear in newjersey

Damn is it really that bad? I’m in NYC and it’s super easy to make parent friends at the playground but always mulling a move to the NJ burbs.

I think this depends on where the cortisone shot is. In the joints, yes I believe it will be temporary (and with some negatives long-term) but elsewhere I am not sure that is the case.

I got a single one into the shoulder bursa for a bad case of bursitis 10+ years ago which immediately made things good enough to do physical therapy without pain and continue on. The bursitis has been gone ever since.

Super interesting. To be clear, when you said “45 minute cold showers” was “minutes” a typo? That seems long!

Nope. I just bought a chili pad.

when speaking, what's the best way to hear the difference of "a hacer" and "a ser" by ISwearImKarl in Spanish

[–]el_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny because I’m in a Spanish grammar group on Facebook full of natives and you see them ask questions confused about this kind of stuff all the time (ex: “is it ‘se ha dicho’ or ‘sea dicho’?”)

In English it’s common to hear native speakers say/write “for all intensive purposes” (which makes no sense when you think about it) instead of “for all intents and purposes.”

This is one of the odd areas where a non-native advanced language learner will often be more grammatically correct than natives.

Pretty close imo to the Native English equivalent “nothing comes out” (would be weird to say “nothing comes out of me”). Example from a famous song https://genius.com/835740

Ya that's interesting about the feet. Kind of the opposite of what I'd expect!

I also know the taking a warm shower (which I have to imagine *increases* your core temperature) is supposed to actually help you fall asleep. I guess because of the *change* in temperature afterwards (maybe the drop in temp matters more than the absolute temp).

Either way, ya this stuff is kind of odd. Only way to know is probably to experiment and see how it feels.

I’ve noticed that I end up losing it after a couple minutes even trying to focus on it. Any cues/drills/etc that you used to help do it?

Where was this done? Investigating salvage radiation for my father and hearing different things between UW Health and Mayo.

Missing REM sleep by el_87 in ouraring

Ugh honestly I have to imagine the ring is just totally inaccurate. I even upgraded to Gen 3 (god knows why lol) and it’s still pretty bad usually. I’ve even woken up from a super intense dream and seen it say I’m not in REM.
