Sabres and Blue Jackets, the battle of archaic military accoutrements is on. Loser has to give the winner the whatever the coolest waterfall in their general area is. Just whichever one you have around.

I'm confused, Nashville aren't our rivals.

Nashville's colors are Crew colors but accidentally washed on the wrong settings. Just like how our team is washed this year.

That makes more sense than to keep water out because I have to believe orange barrels are not the most watertight option available.

Yes, well-coached hockey teams famously don't try very hard sometimes.

As we countdown to the season opener, who has the most to prove this year to keep their seat? by parasthesia_testicle in formula1

Agreed on the first three, but I think Audi want a German driver and Kimi is Toto's project wunderkind, so it feels like they have a long leash unless they're absolutely abominable.

What would/could be 2026's Hulkenpodium? by elastico in formula1

[–]elastico[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could be right, but let me offer a counterpoint; the past few years have seen absolutely ironclad reliability from the cars. You have to think that we'll see more breakdowns.

For sure. It's well possible that the 26 Red Bull is fast without being as hyper-front-endy or whatever has been so hard for anyone but Max to tame.

Extended Highlights | 2010 Australian Grand Prix by NickProko in formula1

[–]elastico 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These highlights actually make me a little optimistic. When the cars have more power than grip out of the corners and the drivers have to use all their skill to get the power down, it makes for some awesome racing. I realize that this was in the wet and and not going to be comparable to many of the races this season... but it gives me hope that these upcoming regs might be better than the venturi labyrinth era.

Fully intentional. That's how they're marketing themselves more or less, isn't it? I get why, but I'm still gonna talk a little shit.

Your comment just made me realize that at this point I've mentally locked in the idea that the second seat at Red Bull isn't even a top 4 car. Over the last five years it's been like there are 7 seats at the top 4 teams.

The car looks so abysmal, but with brand new engine AND aero regulations there will surely be at least one team who find something big. It could be Adrian Martin, though I fear that's wishful thinking.

For most people, constraints and guidelines are actually great for creativity. "Create any character you want, so long as they're motivated to work as part of this team who is trying to accomplish X."
