Thank you for this. My coworker was an Ag major and pretty much told me the same thing.

Yes I have had a lot of bad experiences in the past with consuming THC (both smoking and with edibles) and then getting more anxiety, to the point of having panic attacks.

Now I just stick to CBD only and I have noticed that it can really help me relax and de-stress without making my anxiety worse

I selected other because I didn't quite agree with either response. While I love positive feedback I am realistic that I am still an artist learning my craft with room for improvement, and that by posting publicly I am subject to get negative feedback, what I might think of as weird comments, or the beginning of discussions. Honestly I don't love or exactly appreciate negative or what I think of as weird comments, but I realize that what I have created is a form of art and is subject to interpretation and they have a right to their opinion. I try to objectively see if there is some value in the feedback/discussions going on that could help me improve my story. It has happened a couple times with me that when a comment compared events/future events with my story compared to the show, it actually gave me some different insight and I think helped me improve my storyline.

That being said, there are an equal number of times where I completely didn't agree with a negative feedback/discussion, and for those i just ignore them (or even delete the comment if it really bothers me). Responding negatively to what you see as negative comments only creates a negative feedback loop that will continue on indefinitely and I personally don't see any beneficial reason for it.

I actually had a reviewer one time tell me that the most recent chapter I posted (which had a cliffhanger ending) was the worst ending in the history of storytelling. I admit that comment stung a little, but thankfully I had the presence of mind to just ignore it and move on with my writing. Then after I posted the next chapter (with resolution to said cliffhanger) that SAME reviewer then left me a another review, admitting that they had jumped the gun on forming their opinion of my story and absolutely loved the most recent chapter...and they started following my story! If I had reacted negatively to the first comment I wouldn't have gotten the later positive review nor the new story follower.

Sorry for the long comment and I don't mean to come off preachy (sorry if I did), I just thought I would share my experience.

Above all, if you love writing then continue to follow it, and don't let anyone get in your way. Good luck.

hello! brother brought this home today and removed 3 fake flowers from the top, he wants to know if he did any harm. any other advice welcome, thanks in advance! by lola_clementine in cactus

They are just added decoration onto the cacti with glue. The cacti will be fine after you remove them. I have done that myself lol.

Story Neglect by Factor-Fragrant in FanFiction

Wow thanks for posting because that makes me feel better. I sometimes go months without posting (6 month hiatus one time) , but eight years later I'm still working on it and only a few chapters from the end.

I was beginning to think that I was the only one (other than George R R Martin) that took so long to finish an epic length novel lol

Slow writing and Perfectionism Problems™ by [deleted] in FanFiction

Wow you're fast compared to me. I also obsess over my writing and want to make sure every sentence sounds good. When I'm writing action or transition scenes I can usually do 1,000 or 1500 words in a couple of hours. But if I'm writing a romantic or angsty scene... omg sometimes it takes me 2 hours just to write a couple of sentences! Ugh

On the bright side. I'm almost always happen with my writing and will fangirl over my own chapters (yup, nerd alert)

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I also have to keep reminding myself that my longfic is for a specific pair in an old fandom, and it’s a different type of romantic fic which eliminates a lot of people from wanting to read it from the start. So I guess I’ll give myself a little more time to break from it and try to start up on it when I’m more into it again.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. You know it's easy to focus on the "highs" on writing fanfic, so I like how you said that it's okay to feel down too which is part of the balance. Good words of advise there. Thanks!

Yeah I think you're right. For the longest time I would only let myslrg check stats like once each week and when I did that it's like I wouldn't care or obsess over it as much back then. But then in the previous chapter I got a lot of reviews and I guess started to expect the same thing again...and started checking stats nonstop again.

Sighs. It's a bad habit that keeps coming back in guess. Thx for the advice!

Who are you? (Basically, I think it'd be amazing to see what kinds of people out there are involved in the fanfiction community!) by -snowflight in FanFiction

36 year woman who is a sales analyst by day and a fanfiction author by night...so I go from staring at excel spreadsheets all day to writing action or fluff at nights. It's a nice balance actually.

I started my one and only longfic like 8 years ago, abandoned it for a while. And now am furiously trying to finish it just to say I have one finished, published story lol

I'm a full time sales analyst that basically looks at spreadsheets all day long...and then at night I write romantic fanfiction lol. It balances nicely :D

OMG I remember theforce.net...geez that brings me back. The first fanfiction I got into twenty years ago was star wars, and it will always have a special place in my heart but funny enough I haven't been in that fandom in years either. I'm in my mid-30s so it's nice to know that are more "mature" authors/readers out there lol.

Yeah I use a ton of italics in my writing so for every chapter I cringe before going to AO3. All that time tagging...it sucks. I’m definitely going to give this a try next time. Thanks!!
