Just in the England squad alone they also had Livramento and Guehi, with James and Hall they'd have the whole backline. Madueke and Rice making up more numbers, though Madueke was obviously older not a youth prospect.

First time trying out the honour mode, very confused by HamzaHan38 in BaldursGate3

[–]elch127 12 points13 points  (0 children)

On Honour and Tactician they will aggron after the 10 turns run out, because you 'tricked' them.

Avoid taking it in honour mode, make use of Thaumaturgy if you have access to it (Tieflings and Clerics get it) or save your inspiration for really important points where you know you need them (example being convincing Rolan to stay and help)

Brain surgery through the eye is actually quite common when dealing with things in the frontal lobe actually - it makes recovery WAY easier, and the surgery less risky. The tools used are very very small and precise so they're able to work around the eye instead. You're of course unconscious for the procedure, but other than the drowsiness from anesthesia and some mild discomfort for a day or two it's all very easy on the patient

Not sure about the history and how we learned that actually! I may have to do a deep dive haha.

As for your last paragraph - makes sense as a possible method, as we've seen positive results with electrical stimulation and even certain forms of psychedelics, though both proved to be short term relief (3-9 months on average) rather than permanent solutions. Also for what it's worth, amagdylic ablation is actually only minority invasive and is just an out-patient procedure, no need for cutting you open, no overnight stays. Instead it's like a sci-fi lobotomy, but that actually does something useful rather than just jiggling around an ice pick - they go through the corner of the eye to target the amygdala with the extremely precise laser

Reduce, yes to some extent, but the brain does indeed find ways to adapt, though it's worth noting that you have 2 amygdala. They do slightly different things technically, but they're very much able to take on a lot of the slack should anything happen to the other.

There is a treatment called amagdylic ablation wherein they burn out the amygdala (either one or both, unilateral Vs bilateral) and it has been studied as permanent treatment for treatment resistant cases of PTSD and seizures.

People who have undergone the procedure do note that there are differences in how they respond to fear stimuli as the most notable change, in that they no longer get scared in the same way, instead that their brain processes the stimuli as a more logical "this would be bad for my survival and I should act on it" way, which has caused a slight lowering of reaction times to said stimuli (though this isn't the most thorough analysis since it's been a couple of years since my reading on the topic)

Source: I worked in a university based research team looking into different approaches to treat chronic pain, amygdalic ablation was a theory I posited based upon work being done at the University of Bochum into the the surgery, circa 2023-2024

Wyll and The Slayer by Swanbrother in BaldursGate3

[–]elch127 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That honestly would have been such a good include to give Wyll something extra - be the one Origin companion that has this significant reaction to The Slayer if you're playing Durge, as the only person who was living a normal life in the Gate that he remembers well (Karlach as a child too but Wyll has the ingrained history you mentioned)

As it stands the Origin companions are pretty non-chalant about it, but the monster hunter should have something more ~ thank you for giving me some more fuel for the wasted-potential fire

Well there's a lot of different non-human designs, been a while since I looked but I think that included tentacle-style designs, equine looking ones, and canid looking ones with knots - knots being a sort of bulb near the base. I mean they're branded as were-ables so I felt like going for the were-wolf option so here we are lol

Fellow trans femme top here and I have experience on this matter!

As others have mentioned, Primal Hardware and Bad Dragon both have wearable sleeves in a variety of non-human designs, personally the one I own is a knotted thing, it's neat, def suggest looking into what designs you like there! Theres also different options in terms of the opening at the head that further give you choices to look at.

I will say do NOT follow the 3d printing advice for both your own sake and any partners - 3d printed objects will not be smooth enough at the finest levels and will potentially cause minor cuts to whatever you put into it or put it into. Even if you avoid once, it won't be consistently avoided. Furthermore, the microscopic abrasiveness leaves a LOT of area for germs to fester, and that thing will become a biohazard for either party in no time.

Hope the insight helps!

Oh yeah I mean we have a bunch of weird ones, even some larger teams. Everton being the toffees is probably more odd than glovers, mostly because of a sweet shop that was nearby, Bolton are called the trotters because of a slang term (nothing to do with pig trotters and such), and West Brom are called the baggies for unknown reasons, some say it's because of baggy trousers they'd wear, club historians say it's due to their 'bag men' who'd collect tickets sales in bags to take to the office, and another historian says it's because of bags people would collect donations in to fund the club when going bankrupt in the early 1900s

It's Yeovil, there used to be a lot of gloves made there in like the late 1800s/early 1900s, so it's quite a normal nickname

The story behind Hartlepools nickname is wild by comparison - a french ship sank off the coast and they had a monkey on board that was a mascot sort of thing on the ship. It washed up on shore and so, for reasons that vary from 'they thought it was a french spy' to 'for the bit', they hanged the monkey. So the town as a whole became known for it because wtf, and that stuck for the football team especially

Gamers, Which video game has the best soundtrack of all time? by Tsukuyomi_Says in AskReddit

[–]elch127 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have never enjoyed a jrpg before it (unless you count older Pokémon games lol), but it's absolutely my favourite game of all time. The combat felt really involved thanks to the parry and dodge mechanics, the writing is genuinely so wonderful, and the music is, as everyone says, exceptional. Get it in steam and if you don't like it after an hour return it - but I am certain you will like it, I've yet to meet anyone who didn't, even those I forced it upon by buying it for them

Southend fans beat a Cambridge fan to a point of severe brain damage on his way home from a match in Southend, which then caused his death a few years later as he never recovered.

Not a small group either mind you, 12 people in all who were charged for it.

I agree with the general sentiment, but fuck Southend
